Government members have tentatively agreed that some non-food stores and hair salons could open as of next Monday, but a final decision is expected on Wednesday.
The Minister of Economy Aušrinė Armonaitė, who presented the plan for release from quarantine, announced that he intends to allow the resumption of the activities of beauty salons, ensuring that the service is provided to one customer at a time and covers an area of At least 20 square meters.
If approved, stores that are inedible and have access to the outside will be able to resume operations. They will have to provide an area of 20 square meters per customer.
This is the size discussed with the Ministry of Health, taking into account the practice of other countries. Perhaps the size of the store could be up to 300 square meters. meters, but the government will still have to make a final decision on this, ”said A. Armonait dijo at the government meeting on Monday.
At the suggestion of Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the plan “in principle”, but the government resolution is expected to be adopted on Wednesday.
“Regarding the quarantine release plan itself, today we would have a decision that we can approve the plan in principle, but we probably cannot approve it yet, because there is trade,” the head of government said at the meeting.
According to her, a proposal to open an open-air business will also be presented next Wednesday.
“It must be an open-air trade, it is a trade that does not generate a greater risk of people mixing, accumulating risk in smaller spaces. Probably, that wording could also be considered by Wednesday, ”said I. Šimonyt dijo at the meeting.
Beauty merchants and suppliers were waiting for decisions to liberalize their activities last week, but the government ultimately decided not to consider the issue.
With the tightening of the quarantine in mid-December, many stores in the country closed, with the exception of places of food, sports and recreation, restricting the movement of people between municipalities and meetings both at home and in public places.
But last Monday, the Cabinet already allowed the resumption of activities for outdoor ski centers.
