At the end of November, Gerda M. was interested in the job advertisement of one of the airlines operating in Lithuania: KlasJet, which belongs to the Lithuanian company Avia Solutions Group. KlasJet, which offers private and business charter flights to wealthy customers, was looking for new flight attendants.
In the same month, after successfully approving the first selection, he signed a service contract with KlasJet.
After signing the contract, in December, Gerda M. went to train in Vilnius for two weeks, including Saturdays. 11 more girls studied with her.
“During the training, it was announced that he would ‘present’ first. That means we will catch a plane before Christmas. He said I started talking to the current workplace about the layoff. As the last days of science passed, the things changed: they started kicking the girls out during the lectures. The rest calmed down, supposedly necessary, nothing more. After returning home after the course, I received a call that I would not have flights in December, I would have to wait for January. On January 22, they called us and told us that in the absence of flights, the contracts with us would be terminated. We began to wonder how irresponsible it was – why, knowing that there were no flights, did we work and promise so much? “- 15 minutes he told the girl.

Still, Gerda M. initially said that she had accepted the unfulfilled expectations. The girl said that she understood that the aviation situation was difficult today, but so far she believes that this should not have been news to the company itself either.
However, a few days after the contract was terminated, when he saw a new advertisement for KlasJet on the internet looking for new flight attendants for a new formation, he did not understand the solution and told his story on social media.
According to the girl, she has the most unfortunate moment: she and some of her classmates were waiting for flights in December and most of January, but did not take the plane. Gerda M. says that some of her colleagues quit their existing jobs or waited without taking anything until they were able to start working as flight attendants.
Training participant: I couldn’t even sign my contract
Gerda’s classmate, Monika B., also agreed to share her experience. According to the interlocutor, his contract was not even signed by the person in charge when he involuntarily completed the training back in December.
“They sent me a contract, they told me to bring it signed and give it to the human resources manager when I accepted. He gave me a uniform for the second week of training, I took it home. The next day, during training, I saw the coach and told him that I wanted to give him the signed contract. She informed me that she was abandoned and that the contract was not valid. The uniform was ordered to be returned soon. There wasn’t even a manager’s signature on my contract, just my first and last name, “he said.
Monika B. said that the reason for her refusal was non-compliance. “He told me: everything is fine with you, suitable for aviation, but you are not classjetinė. I don’t know exactly what that means, it can be interpreted in different ways, “said the interviewee.
According to her, another girl was abandoned the same day. He said he knew at least four apprentices whose services had been denied in the past two months.

After successfully completing training and receiving the opportunity to take off, the freshly baked flight attendants had to record an individual activity before the first flight and then receive a salary for the work.
The trainings themselves did not cost the participants, they were covered by the company, but they had to wait a long time for income opportunities, and some did not come. “It just came to our notice then. I’m not from Vilnius, so I took a vacation without paying and went to Vilnius every day, which ultimately caused a loss,” said Monika B.
The interviewee was also not satisfied with the fact that during the training images of her and her colleagues were used in the company’s promotional material, although none of them had yet worked for the company. “They would photograph us every day, even when we asked him not to take a picture. Our photos were like a social ad from the company itself for free. We were told that all social media should be organized according to company standards and that KlasJet could be shared whenever possible. postcards, to put the playgrounds “, said the girl.
„KlasJet Representative – Contracts with only two candidates have been terminated
Vilia Vaitiekūnaitė, Avia Solutions Group spokesperson 15 minutes He said the company regularly conducts satellite flight searches and pays particular attention to candidate qualifications.
“In December, we were looking for flight attendants with work experience. After the first selection phase, several candidates began specialized KlasJet training, the second selection phase. At the beginning of this selection phase, a service contract is signed with all candidates, discussing the terms of service and the obligations of both parties. And only then does the training phase begin. However, the signed contract stipulates that the company does not provide guarantees to the candidate to successfully complete the training and start flying “, said.
V. Vaitiekūnaitė stated that Gerda M. and an anonymous girl did not meet the quality standards set by the company. “Klasjet operates VIP charter flights and serves commercial, state, sports, cultural and entertainment delegations around the world, placing particularly high demand on flight attendants,” he said.

V. Vaitiekūnaitė also emphasized that some of the candidates who have signed service contracts do not start flying and this is common practice. “This is what happened in the aforementioned case: we stopped the selection process with two candidates. Other candidates have successfully completed all training stages and have started work, have either become Klasjet crew members or are still awaiting scheduled practical training and mandatory in-flight selection stages, ”said V.Vaitiekūnaitė.
When asked about Gerda M.’s new job, KlasJet said the new selection was for inexperienced attendees. It has nothing to do with the selection in December, when the company was looking for candidates who already had work experience.
KlasJet was founded in 2013. The company has 8 aircraft in its fleet: 7 Boeing of various specifications and a Bombardier.
Labor Inspection: training must take place after signing the employment contract
After Gerdai M. posted her story on social media, the comments revealed speculation that in this way the company could allegedly seek to benefit from the creation of new jobs for the unemployed.
Still, Employment Spokesperson Milda Jankauskienė 15min.lt confirmed that, under such conditions, the company could not receive similar benefits, since it is necessary for the employee to be hired before quarantine in order to receive them.
When asked by the State Labor Inspectorate about the situation, Šarūnas Orlavičius, head of the Labor Law Division of this institution, said that generally, in the case of training, an employment contract should be concluded instead of services. Consequently, KlasJet could not train employees without an employment contract.
“Training is possible on the initiative of the employer only after entering into an employment contract, and the termination of the contract depends on many components. The training time is included in the paid working time. Termination of the employment contract is possible by general reasons and, depending on the reasons for the termination of the employment contract, the worker must be warned accordingly and compensation must be paid ”, commented the specialist in labor law about the general procedure.
