Support for Belarusians was expressed all over the world: dozens of campaigns were carried out in different countries

Belarus’ resistance to the regime of illegitimate President Aliaksandr Lukashenko has been going on for exactly half a year, 180 million full days. On the occasion of the anniversary, a day of solidarity with Belarus has been declared around the world. This time an impressive lighting installation was lit in Riga. And the mayor of the Latvian capital contributed to the campaign himself. A red and white flag of the Belarusian opposition was raised on the ice by a drone hoisted over the Daugava River.

In Vilnius, not only famous angels show solidarity with Belarus. The city also organized a race to support people terrorized by the Lukashenko regime. More than 30,000 people have been detained in Belarus since the protests began. Many of them were jailed and beaten. He suffered torture and humiliation. Unafraid of the cold, the runners reached the Belarusian embassy through the streets of Naujamiestis. Here, campaigns in support of Belarusians have been held almost every week since the summer.

Other Lithuanian cities joined the Day of Solidarity with Belarus. This is the kind of red and white flag that is raised in Biržai. With these colors, buildings, bridges and monuments of state importance shone in other cities, as well as in Lithuanian representations abroad. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda says solidarity with one’s neighbor is more important today than ever.

“We must remember our struggle, our struggle for freedom. Today, the Belarusian people are doing the same. I believe that the efforts of the Belarusians to carry out this resistance in a peaceful and dignified manner, but with the knowledge of their rights, are commendable. Today we are witnessing the birth of Belarusian civil society. This is very important. This is extremely important for the development of democracy, not only throughout the region, but also throughout Europe, “says President Gitanas Nausėda.

Solidarity marches were also held in neighboring Poland. Here people carry a historic flag and march in Gdansk. And here in Białystok a special hot air balloon took off. At that time, support for Belarusians experiencing repression and persecution in Warsaw was expressed in songs and marches were held in the city streets in Frankfurt. Belarus Solidarity Day is celebrated in at least 60 cities around the world from Tokyo to San Francisco.
