Criticism of the vaccine that I. Šimonytė shared on his Twitter account of the social network.

“They say that Sputnik V is fit for use, but Putin does not want to use it as medicine for the Russian people, he offers it to the world as another hybrid weapon to break down and control.

This is not news or anything good for humanity ”, writes I. Šimonytė on his Twitter account.

Lithuania does not plan to buy Sputnik V vaccine

Recently, The Lancet reported that the Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus, developed in Russia, is 91.6% effective, and some European countries are already preparing to buy the vaccine.

However, when asked if Lithuania would consider purchasing the Sputnik V vaccine, I. Šimonytė said a strict “no”.

“No, we do not plan because the vaccine is not registered in any country of the European Union (EU) and has not been evaluated by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). I think these are the comments here too, ”said the Prime Minister.

EU Head of Diplomacy Joseph Borell has expressed hope that the COVID-19 vaccine developed in Russia will soon be used in the 27-member community. However, after clarifying whether Lithuania would buy this vaccine in the event of such a Community decision, I. Šimonytė repeated the negative answer.

“I cannot make assumptions because the EMA decides which vaccine should be approved, not Mr. Borrell. And there will be no more comments than I said on this issue. Because Sputnik is definitely not the vaccine that we have included in our portfolio of vaccines.” said.
