Next to the “Girstutis” complex, there are two ice rinks on the full rink: one for training and the other for competitions, both hockey and figure skating. The grandstands will have capacity for about 500 spectators.

Dredging works on Lake Lampėdis will be completed in the near future. The next 2km long straight for academic kayaks, canoes and rowboats with modern start and finish infrastructure and trail buoys – almost everything is missing to host top-ranking races here.

European approach

Next year, Kaunas will crown a long and persistent period of preparation by becoming the European Capital of Culture: the whole city will vibrate with culture: exceptional events, exhibitions, performances and other significant activities will be attracted to attract attention. both from Kaunas and from all Europeans.

In anticipation of 2022, culture enthusiasts and movie lovers will be delighted with the legendary Romuva Cinema, which will open its doors to visitors shortly after reconstruction. Interwar authenticity here will go hand in hand with new features. In addition to the usual film screenings, the cinema is expected to host performances of modern dance and other performing arts. A space for educational workshops will be established on the second floor.

The Kaunas City Council will also receive innovations. The renovation of the building called White Swan will eliminate the thin-walled partitions of the Soviet era, open a large uninterrupted space for exhibitions, installations, upgrade engineering systems, install heated floors and new lighting. On the ground floor, in addition to the modern museum exhibition of the highest level, additional spaces will be formed for a cafeteria and a conference room.

The renovation of the Kaunas House of Artists is also planned. Facade repairs, window and door restoration, and building lighting should be done here.

Quality of education and infrastructure

In the next three years, the field of education will also see positive changes. To make children feel comfortable, comfortable and safe in schools and kindergartens, renovation works are planned in some of the buildings. The school community will draw on project experience to improve the quality of educational services.

The kindergarten infrastructure network will be further expanded. The future kindergarten with 200 places has already been built in Šilainiai, Kuršių st. This is the first totally new investment in education. The kindergarten will stand out with a welcoming environment and modern play spaces that encourage children’s mobility and curiosity. There will be up to 12 groups in the spacious facilities.

The capital reconstruction of the former Kindergarten on Jūratės Street has already been prepared, after which this institution will be reborn in Vilijampolė. The construction of a new kindergarten is also planned in Romainiai, Vijūkų str.
