“The second dose of the vaccine was administered to doctors, social workers and residents this week, leaving some vaccines unused for education workers in some municipalities,” Julijanas Gališanskis, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (SAM) told BNS.
“As a result, some municipalities have started vaccinating employees of educational institutions earlier,” he added.
According to SAM, educators started vaccination this week in Kaunas, Druskininkai and Molėtai, Kelmė and Rokiškis districts.
The SNB announced that the ministry plans to begin vaccinating teachers in all municipalities next week and vaccinate all preschool, preschool and primary education personnel who are willing in two weeks.
According to the Ministry, 1.2 thousand have already been vaccinated. employees of preschool and preschool education institutions and 140 people working in primary education institutions.
According to SAM, not only teachers are vaccinated but also other employees of educational institutions who have contact with students.
It is planned to vaccinate a total of 30 thousand. pedagogical personnel, most of them work in preschool and preschool educational institutions – about 16,2 thousand, in general education institutions – about 6 thousand, in special schools – 1,3 thousand.

According to SAM, the vaccination of employees of educational institutions has already started, because by easing the quarantine conditions, educators will return to schools and resume contact work.
