“The letters CS added to the BMW M models stand for Club Sport and signify even greater sportiness. This marking has been used by the company for almost 50 years, when the BMW 3.0 CS made its debut in the 1980s. The new BMW M5 CS will undoubtedly become the flagship of the CS models, as it will feature not only the best dynamic properties, but also luxurious and exceptional design details, ”said Martynas Daujotas, BMW Brand Manager in Lithuania.
The BMW M5 CS is historically the most powerful in the M Series due to its 4.4-liter V8 engine, developing up to 467 kW / 635 hp. From 0 to 100 km / h. The BMW M5 CS will accelerate in 3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km / h. – in 10.3 seconds. The maximum speed to be developed will be electronically limited to 305 km / h.
Reducing the car’s weight also helped BMW engineers achieve such parameters. The construction and finish use lighter materials, making the car up to 70 kg lighter than the BMW M5 Competition. The chassis also accommodates the lower weight of the car: the springs on the front and rear axle have been adjusted and the damping system has been improved.
As standard, the new model will feature an eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic function, which allows you to select algorithms that best suit different driving modes and change gears in an instant. The intelligent M xDrive all-wheel drive system, which can be switched to 2W mode, will also be fitted as standard, in which case the car will only be driven with the rear wheels.
The BMW M5 CS is suitable for four people. The front of the driver and passenger are equipped with M Carbon carbon seats. An interesting design detail is the illuminated M5 logo on the integrated headrests and the contours of the legendary Nurburgring race track. There are also individual seats in the rear for passengers. The steering wheel is covered with M Alcantara leather and, as in a sports car, the straight position of the steering wheel is indicated by a red dash.
Externally, the sporty character of the BMW M5 CS comes not only from the lettering on the front grille or from the M5 CS on the sides, but also from the unique design or functional details: the ventilation holes made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, the rear spoiler, the mirror elements or the lower part of the front spoiler. The L-shaped bands on the laser headlights stand out, and they stand out instead of whitish as usual. At the rear of the car, the exhaust system of the BMW M5 CS is divided into four pipes with stainless steel nozzles, and it is difficult to miss the M Carbon ceramic brakes with red or gold elements (optional) from the side.
The first BMW M5 CS models will hit the world market in spring 2021. Krasta Auto, BMW’s official representative in Lithuania, announces that the price of this model starts at 175,850 euros.
