“The non-Belarusian people, fighting for freedom and the fundamental right to decide their own destiny, is the opposition: Alexander Lukashenko’s bloody regime has long turned into opposition to the people of his country. The liberation of the prisoners politicians, an end to repression, free and democratic elections are the most important steps that Belarusians demand. Lithuania and the entire democratic world demand the same, “said the Prime Minister.
Lithuania seeks to further increase pressure on the Belarusian regime. Lithuania also supports the development of EU sanctions.
Lithuania issues national visas and political asylum to persecuted Belarusian citizens free of charge. Ways are being sought to further simplify migration procedures and facilitate the conditions for Belarusian companies to relocate to Lithuania.
It was noted that Lithuania provides medical assistance and rehabilitation to the victims of the repression, 89 scholarships have been awarded to Belarusian undergraduate students at Lithuanian universities, and another 20 scholarships for master’s studies are planned for this year.
