It is not yet clear why the Russian consul general in Narva, Yuri Gribkov, received both doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, the second two days before returning to Russia.
Following the publication of the EPL, an internal investigation was launched at East Viruma Central Hospital, where J. Gribkov was vaccinated.
Gribkov, 65, who is leaving the hospital, was interviewed by an EPL journalist. The diplomat admitted to having received the second dose of the vaccine and claimed that he would have serious health problems, which led to being offered the opportunity to get vaccinated on January 2. Vaccination against the coronavirus in Estonia started a week earlier.
Gribkov added that he would be leaving Russia soon because his term as consul general was coming to an end, so he was in a rush to receive both doses of the vaccine.
At the same time, Russian state media and social media claim that Western-produced Pfizer / BioNTech, AstraZeneca, and Moderna vaccines are not safe and that people who have been vaccinated have died.
Large-scale vaccination in Russia began in December, where people are vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.
East Virumaa chief physician Veronika Ilyina denied to the PLA journalist that Gribkov had been vaccinated.
Tarmo Bakler, chairman of the hospital board, told the PLA that he had only heard of the diplomat’s vaccination from the media. An internal investigation was launched into the incident.
Gribkov himself claimed that vaccines are a humane hospital gesture, and it is wrong to call Pfizer’s vaccines “death vaccines.”
“Every journalist writes what his editor wants or wants. Personally, I know that all of our employees are happy to be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccines, ”the diplomat told the EPL.
