As Delfi announced, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (EIM) has presented three proposals to the Government to ease the quarantine conditions. In the opinion of the Ministry, on February 1 it would be possible to ski in the open-air mountain ski resorts, of which there are six in Lithuania. Outdoor stores could open February 8 and beauty services would be renewed. However, with important limitations.

On Wednesday, the government decided to extend the quarantine until February 28 with all the restrictions in place. In response to EIM’s proposals, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė stated that talks with the ski resorts are continuing for the time being.

“So far no such decisions have been made, no specific dates have been set. EIM’s proposals are probably based on the ministry’s mandate. Of course, assessing the situation with sufficient responsibility and organizing certain stages.

As for the ski resorts, that discussion is ongoing and I think there will be more in the coming days. There are some nuances about the conditions in which this activity could work in the field, but the problems we do not want to cause is the expectation that it will be an incentive for people to move from one municipality to another. If we can find a regime that satisfies the ski resorts themselves to see the opening point, as well as the epidemiological situation, it will take several more days of discussions, then we can return to that. problem ”, pointed out I. Šimonytė.

According to the Prime Minister, the latest data and dynamics will be discussed at the Government meeting on Friday and at the meeting of the State Emergency Commission on Monday.

“Then we will see if we can go back to some clearer dates and more concrete decisions on Wednesday. So far, apparently, that is what we need to do to have some legal certainty,” said I. Šimonytė.

According to BNS, the quarantine was announced in Lithuania on November 7 last year, its regime has been tightened since December 16 and is currently valid until January 31.

At present, many shops, sports and leisure venues in the country have been closed, the movement of people between municipalities and meetings both at home and in public places has been restricted.
