Mike James, who has competed in Moscow since 2019, signed a new three-year contract last summer, but the collaboration between the player and the club could soon break down.

The CSKA leader was angered when the club failed to deliver him to the funeral of his grandfather, who represented his parents as a child, arguing that the basketball player’s entire trip to the United States and quarantine would take several weeks to return to Russia.

James did not go with the team to the Euroleague game in Berlin, and his fate at the club in the Russian capital was hanging by hair.

Several basketball sources from the Old Continent announce that the CSKA leader is determined to leave the team.

Support for James was expressed by Milan player Olimpia Malcolm Delaney, who wrote on the social network Twitter that clubs ask to forget about the family for basketball.

“So teams punish players for wanting to attend funerals and pay tribute to people who care more about them than basketball. Sometimes it’s bad business. It is sad that we find ourselves in situations where we are asked to forget our family because of the game. I will never do that, ”Malcolmas Delaney wrote on his Twitter account, sharing on his account Šarūnas Jasikevičius’s legendary press conference, where the strategist taught the journalist about children.

James accumulates an average of 31 minutes each in the Euroleague this season. 19.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 20.6 utility points.

The 30-year-old, 185cm tall defender was CSKA’s most productive and useful basketball player, with the Moscow club ranking second in the Euroleague.
