To the United States, Florida, travel in 2019. How did you manage to adapt in this country?

At first it was difficult, but a new country, a culture. It took me a couple of months to get used to, but everyone accepted it with affection and kindness, so it was so much easier.

How has your life changed since you left your homeland and moved to a whole new country?

Drastically changed for the better. I was able to see the world from a different perspective, get to know a new culture. The new acquaintances provided many opportunities and opened new doors for improvement in the future.

Before you left, you said that the first goal is to get into the top division of the NCAA, but not to forget science either. How do you manage to reconcile if the sciences have not suffered?

It is not difficult to combine science here, all conditions are adapted so that all athletes advance in school first, and only then take care of the respective sports.

You recently received an offer from a university. How did you feel then?

It was as fun as a dream come true, but it added a lot of motivation to keep going and show better results.

You have become a true leader in the school team, the coach has named you one of the best snipers in the entire United States. What is the focus of student basketball in this country?

Student basketball is very popular here, especially in Miami. Many people are interested and follow their supported teams, there are many tournaments and demonstrations. Personally, I get the most attention because I am from Lithuania. It’s not very common in Miami, so I always get a lot of support and it’s rewarding.

To what extent did the fact that you managed to play professionally for the NKL club before leaving for Lithuania helped you achieve those results?

It was really beneficial as I had gained different experiences at different speeds and faster decision making, but basketball here is like day and night compared to Europe. It’s all based on fast “run and shoot” basketball and the individuality of the players.

What aspects of the game do you think have improved the most since you came to the United States?

Mostly I improved my individual skills, I further improved my shooting, dribbling, especially defense. He has managed to improve and play skills, make better decisions and make better transfers. I also got stronger physically.

In general, what is the focus here on talent development?

The focus is on individual work, physical preparation, so most players who have a good base are athletic, have a good shot and achieve a lot.

What are your immediate goals and dreams?

The immediate goals are to successfully complete the season, improve your game, and ultimately transfer your skills to college basketball.
