Vaidotas Valiukevičius, the leader of the group, together with the director of the video clip for the song Saulius Baradinskas, told the Delfi program “Eurovision: Maybe finally?” To representatives of the record company Warner Music, which has accumulated in the music market.

“I am very happy to see the success of the song, it shows that we are moving in the right direction. This is not only the achievement of the director of the group or clip, but also of the whole of Lithuania, because we represent our country. This is, I would say, a victory for Lithuania, ”said V. Valiukevičius.

“It is very funny that the clip is appreciated not only by Lithuanians, but also by the whole world, sharing reactions. I would very much appreciate the result we have achieved. I thought if we got 100,000 hits a week, it would be good, and seeing much bigger numbers, I feel fantastic, ”says S. Baradinskas, who has already created many music videos for other groups.

The director does not hide that he was given a lot of freedom in the creation of the video, the most important thing was not to forget that the work is dedicated to “Eurovision”, so he had to stay close to the performance of the competition.

“It’s good that a lot of people, professionals in their field, were involved in the process. As a director, I felt it was an important task to transition with the band from last year’s well-known song” On Fire “to a completely new setting. I think we were very lucky to show everything we wanted. “On Fire” was a hit and that hit had to “sit backstage” because it didn’t make it to Eurovision anyway. And it was there, looking in the mirror, that a new one started. It’s also fun that our message that when you dance alone, not alone, dancing with you and other embodied characters, was appreciated with rave reviews, “said S. Baradinskas.

Speaking about how many riddles the video left people and how many characters were actually hidden in it, V. Valiukevičius said that this was one of his ideas. In it, viewers noted both the hints of the “Twinpyx” series and the movements of the grandiose of the stage, in the choreography it is possible to easily recognize the dance of Arvydas Sabonis, who has become a legend.

“But we don’t want to give all the answers, we leave the freedom to guess, interpret, find the clues on the left. It’s so much fun to let people get in on all the action, ”said The Roop frontman.

“The images were inspired by the 1970s, when popular culture was heavily influenced by Hollywood, stars like Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and other personalities. After listening to the song, I wanted to create a colorful disco, so all the characters are conscious references to the viewer, because we were created from that time, we are the children who grew up with MTV. It’s good that people have discovered and understood this, because after dancing we have been one of the Jacksons or Mercury more than once ”, the director revealed the idea.

And how long did Vaidotas take to learn the “finger dance” that is already going viral on the Internet, to move his eyebrows one by one?

“Everything you see in the clip, nothing was done by duress, it was put into the script because it is taken from my life, it comes from within me. Maybe that’s why people like the idea, because it’s close, very natural, untouched, “says the band’s vocalist.

When asked if it was easy to film not only standing but also dancing in high heels, V. Valiukevičius said it was a real challenge for him.

“I admit it, my legs hurt after filming. Standing on heels for a few hours would be nothing more, but when I had to do it for 12 hours, it felt great. Although my shoes are different from women’s high heels, they were shipped from a foreign store, although all the remaining clothing was specially sewn for us and our show. But even though they are male, the heel doesn’t seem very high, but now I really sympathize with women who wear heels all day, ”Vaidotas laughed about the biggest challenge.

V. Valiukevičius is reluctant to talk about future plans, keeps intrigue.

“We have planned many things, but I would not like to talk about that in detail. Is it okay to tell the end of a movie when it has not even started? I can say that we are really preparing and have many ideas on how to popularize the song even more and spread the name of Lithuania. If we win the national team, we will have a plan of what to do next, “said the interlocutor.

This year’s The Roop Eurovision Song Contest was scheduled to reach the ears of fans no earlier than the morning of January 22. However, the Disco began to be distributed online illegally on the eve.

Laura Lučiūnas, the group’s producer, told Delfi that representatives of radio stations from other countries who did not take the conditions established in the legal documents well into account could be the culprits. The song was first heard on the radio in Serbia, then in the Czech Republic and Italy. Too early, the song began to spread on the YouTube platform and social networks.

“This is a surprise not only for us, but also for Warner’s music. People from other countries were the first to start writing songs for us. A Czech reported that the song had already been played on a Czech radio station in line. They sent me a link to a song uploaded online. I sent that link to Warner Music right away, then we noticed that the song was already on Youtube. Representatives of an international record company told us: “Such things only happen to the best artists. That’s what happens to Dua Lipai, for example. ” Well, we are moving towards that (laughs). But it really wasn’t some kind of promotional stunt. We just wanted the song to be presented to everyone at the same time, to wait for it and not to spread like a shot of fireworks prematurely, ”said V. Valiukevičius.

The leader of The Roop said that the record company was also very surprised by the video clip “Discoteque”, which is why V. Valiukevičius predicts the international success of S. Baradinskas.

“When we showed the video to Warner Music, they asked, ‘Did you create it here in Lithuania?’ Yes, we have a lot of good and talented people in Lithuania. They just “froze” when they saw Saul’s work. Who knows, maybe they will refer you to other works as well, maybe you have to create Dua Lipai. Sauliau, get ready ”, advised V. Valiukevičius.

Meanwhile, S. Baradinskas himself received the accolades with modesty.

“I remember when we first met with Vaidotas to talk and went up Cerro de las Tres Cruces, we needed a great place to see the ideas in the clip, where we could see everything from above. Then we decided that no matter what the pressure was, to the people of Vaidotas and The Roop love it because they are real and they sincerely want to win. They do a lot for that. It was nice to see what happened on the field. Many talented people worked on this clip. We had a very good and meaningful time. It feels like endless at the end of the clip. I’m glad the label, the people and the band are happy. We work to be good, “said S. Baradinskas.

V. Valiukevičius reacted to The Roop’s anticipated success in the great Eurovision national team, where after two rounds of selection, ten more participants reached the semi-finals. Although the song “Discoteque” will sound live immediately in the final, but it is already often called “winner”, the band’s vocalist does not hide his attention from the performances of the competitors.

“I was interested in seeing what the scene looks like, how it is filmed, what the people involved here look like and what songs they perform. I don’t think those artists or bands should lose motivation. One way or another, this selection is a great place to perform. Also, Lithuania is really unpredictable, so it can end either way. I don’t rule out any of them. I also want to say that I haven’t compared myself to others for some time. Even now I don’t know which one is stronger than us. That comparison to something in life really didn’t help me. There is enough faith in your group ”, assured the interlocutor.
