Poland recorded a record jump in new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection last weekend, the Health Ministry reported.
Most of the new cases of the disease are linked to a coal mine in the south of the country.
During the weekend, 1,151 new cases of COVID-19 were registered: 576 on Saturday and 575 on Sunday. This is by far the largest number of new cases of coronavirus infection detected in Poland in two days.
Nearly two-thirds of those approved by COVID-19 over the weekend are workers at the Zofiuvka mine and members of their families, the health ministry said.
