Due to the new COVID-19 mutations and the risk of their spread in European Union (EU) countries, Lithuania is reducing the requirements for travelers, they must have a negative test and be isolated in many countries.

The requirement goes into effect Monday, the Department of Health (SAM) said.

According to her, the countries affected include not only the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of South Africa, but also more countries where mutations have been detected.

The flow of affected countries has also been supplemented by those EU countries that have a red color in the emoticons of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

In total, there are about 200 states in the sequence published by SAM. It was practiced by all European countries, including neighboring Latvia, Poland, Belarus, and Russia.

Ireland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Brazil, Israel, and the Republic of South Africa have been identified as countries where new mutations in the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been identified.

All travelers arriving in the country ii must have a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours. before arrival, or conduct a survey on arrival in Lithuania and isolate yourself for 14 days with the possibility of shortening the isolation by conducting the survey for ten days.

Stronger isolation conditions apply to those affected by the mutation: it is not possible to walk and leave the isolation site when the person needs urgent medical attention and is therefore receiving medical treatment, including a mobile point, according to the report. by SAM. .

With permission from the National Public Health Center (NVSC), individuals in isolation will be able to go to funerals, change isolation locations, or go to medical care for other health care services.

According to the decision of the Minister of Health, Arnas Dulkis, signed on Friday, people arriving in countries where virus mutations have spread can be isolated in a separate apartment or house, in another well-insulated floor of an apartment or individual house or in a separate secluded room with a separate bathroom.

Isolation is only possible with people traveling together, with the exception of minors, who can live with family members who do not travel and who must isolate themselves for the same period.

Those who arrive in other affected countries can walk 1 km, leave the isolation zone without informing or authorizing the NVSC according to the established access flow.

In addition, they can be isolated in the same apartment with non-traveling family members, only in another room, restricting movement in the house and reducing the shared use of common space.

The Ministry pays attention to the fact that, in some cases, isolation may not apply. For certain occupational groups and those who come for important medical visits or important family matters (funerals or terminal visits to treat patients), only a coronavirus test is required.

It is not necessary for all persons in transit through Lithuania to isolate themselves or carry out an investigation.

The test and isolation requirement also does not apply to people who have been diagnosed with coronavirus or who have been vaccinated with a full vaccination schedule, as long as there is a certificate of hospital treatment or vaccination (with Lithuanian translation in Lithuanian or Russian) for 90 years. days before arrival or vaccination.

According to SAM, stricter measures have been taken for travelers in light of the latest risk assessment published by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

According to the ECDC, viruses are constantly changing due to mutations. Some of them do not have a greater need for the virus to spread, but some can cause the virus to spread faster or cause more serious forms of the disease.

Currently, several mutations in the coronavirus that cause COVID-19 are being observed around the world, threatening a higher rate of spread and the consequent deterioration of the epidemiological situation.

According to preliminary data, the probability of such mutations and coronavirus spreads in the EU is considered high or very high.
