It is clear how the police will limit movement between municipalities as of Thursday

Starting Thursday, people will be able to communicate more freely with each other, creating so-called “social bubbles.” This means that two families or two households can communicate if one of them has no more than one adult (along with minor children) or a person who needs constant care and attention.

The members of the social bubble can move from one municipality to another if they are in different municipalities.

They will have to show where they travel

Despite a more lenient quarantine, the police still restrict travel between municipalities. The police department assures that even the participants of the “social bubbles” will have to demonstrate the purpose of their trip.

“Those residents who travel to the ‘social bubble’ will have to explain and provide some evidence. The agents will be able to try to help find the evidence, verify it, if the published versions are true and correct, ”said Ramūnas Matonis, representative of the Police Department.

He explained how the police would verify that the information provided by the population is correct.

“For example, if you go with your mother, you tell her the name, where that mother lives, how old she is. We check our databases to see if that person is actually registered at that address or if there are no other people registered at the same address. If everything matches, everything is in order, a person can travel, ”said R. Matonis.

If officials are suspicious, they will verify the information in detail.

“You can call and request more data to verify the information,” said R. Matonis.

The Interior Minister, Agnė Bilotaitė, assured at the government meeting on Wednesday that together with the Police Department they will find solutions on how to ensure that people do not abuse this permit.

“There are discussions about those restrictions that can be abused. But I want to assure you that we will definitely find solutions. And we really see a problem with lonely people, people who really need help.

I think by appealing to the public there will certainly be no abuse of that. I want to assure you that we and the Police Department will find solutions to this situation, ”said A. Bilotaitė.

Until January 31, the police restrict the movement of people between municipalities. It is true that there are several exceptions. Among them, when traveling to or from airports, seaports, bus stations serving international passenger routes, to the municipality of your place of residence due to the death of close relatives.

Nor is it prohibited to travel to work when the workplace is in another municipality, for health services, for other objectively justified reasons of urgency, when it is unavoidable to go to a municipality other than the one where you live.

The restriction also does not apply to people who travel to a municipality other than the one in which they reside, where they have real estate.
