Martynas was one of the first in Lithuania to be diagnosed with COVID-19 infection.

“There was a lot of chaos at the time, everyone was very confused, it was the first days of the pandemic. That was normal. When Martynas was diagnosed with a COVID-19 coronavirus infection, not only for Lithuania but also for other countries in the world, such a situation was new and unusual, causing uncertainty and fear. At that time, there were no fever clinics or mobile coronavirus checkpoints in Lithuania. The man himself thought he was tired.

The girlfriend was very concerned about her health, then, in the face of the tension over COVID-19, Martyn called a special phone line and they called the couple in an ambulance. Then, in Vilnius, only doctors from the Santara clinics could take a sample for the coronavirus exam. Not only Martynas, but also his friend, investigated. The husband was diagnosed with the infection, the girlfriend (although the couple lived together) was not.

Weakened sense of smell

When Martynas went to the hospital, she had a strange, then little-known, symptom: a weakening of the sense of smell. Until now, publications have already written about the disappearance of smell.

Martynas remained in the hospital for 10 days. The man then compared his condition to other patients who were later seen in the hospital and was considered a mild patient. Still, enduring the illness was not so easy.

Although Martin became ill with the new coronavirus, doctors based on preliminary calculations informed the man that immunity had developed over 6 months, which must still be monitored.
