Following a report from pharmaceutical giants on Friday, European countries are concerned that vaccines will be delayed for the next four weeks.
The US pharmaceutical company Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech are now announcing an agreement on a plan to “increase production capacity in Europe and deliver significantly more vaccine doses in the second quarter.”
Pfizer and BioNTech have promised it as of January 25. will return to the delivery time previously agreed with the European Union (EU) and from February 15. more will be delivered than previously anticipated. However, for this to happen, “some production processes already need to be modified.”
On Friday, Pfizer said work at the plant in Belgium would delay delivery of vaccines for the next three to four weeks.
Following the news, health ministers from six EU countries sent a joint letter to the European Commission on Friday, expressing “grave concern” about the expected delay.
