“Have fun responsibly. The virus is not terrible ”, funny posters advertise the need to wear protective masks and keep a safe distance.
It has been observed that as soon as more snow falls, many have forgotten requests not to meet and follow other “quarantine” rules of safe behavior.
So far, specialists and policemen from the Kaunas Municipality Public Order Department, who have overseen the order and sanctioned residents with benevolent warnings, have been reinforced. From now on, the educational mission will be complemented with new posters in public places. They will encourage the animators to wear face shields and maintain a safe distance, even when descending or climbing mountains.
“Speeding off the mountain on sleds or skis will not earn you a fine, but a forgotten mask can cause inconvenience, so it is important not to forget the basic rules and follow them diligently,” says Paulius Keras, deputy director of the Kaunas municipal administration.
Finally, in the case of more severe winter frosts, it is important to take care of not only warm clothing, sleds or skis, but also other important attributes. Residents who have not resisted the temptations of the snow are urged to wear protective masks, to avoid gatherings, keeping safe distances from each other.
According to Rimantas Vilimas, Head of the Department of Public Order of the Municipality of Kaunas, officials and specialists carry out inspections in public places even on weekends: “Recently, we have been working every day, paying more attention to the control of winter entertainers. We often don’t keep a safe distance in the hills, not everyone wears face masks; So far, we are limited to benevolent warnings.
We also remind you of safety recommendations in public places through the loudspeaker. This draws the attention of the population in particular. We understand that people crave entertainment, but we encourage them to act responsibly. The quarantine is not over, so compliance is critical. “
The first special signs with warning signs in public entertainment venues will welcome Kaunas residents already this weekend.
Quarantine restrictions require people over the age of 6 to wear well-fitting masks that completely cover their nose and mouth in all public places. The exceptions apply to athletes, participants in official competitions, as well as people with disabilities who cannot wear masks due to their medical condition. It is recommended that they wear a face shield.
