“Please contact BioNTech / Pfizer urgently to request a public explanation of the situation and to emphasize the need for stability and transparency of timely delivery. National governments cannot plan a successful vaccination without scheduling delivery of the vaccine, ”the letter to BNS was copied.
In a letter to the European Commissioner of Health, the health ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Denmark and Sweden stated that delivery problems raised serious concerns about the sustainability and reliability of the vaccination process.
“We are writing to you with great concern about the sustainability and reliability of the COVID-19 vaccination process, following oral statements from BioNTech / Pfizer representatives about their delivery difficulties,” the letter reads.
According to the ministers, representatives from BioNTech / Pfizer announced that the quantities of vaccines delivered to countries will be significantly reduced in the coming weeks, some were given a deadline of February 8, 2021 and others were not provided any information on the expected delivery times.
“We have an obligation to inform our public and specific risk groups (individuals) that their vaccination will be delayed, despite the great efforts of our governments to ensure its timely delivery. This situation is unacceptable. This not only affects the planned vaccination schedules, but also reduces the reliability of the vaccination process, ”said the ministers.
