Lithuania has decided not to change the requirements: COVID-19 test is mandatory only when it comes from 2 countries

We remind you that as of Friday, January 15 all newcomers to Latvia and Estonia must take the COVID-19 test. By publishing their decisions, Latvia and Estonia announced that similar rules would go into effect in the three Baltic countries, but Lithuania decided not to change the requirements yet.

The current list of countries and regions affected by coronavirus infection (COVID-19) remains unchanged and remains valid for another week, the Health Ministry said Friday night. Liechtenstein and Switzerland and all third countries remain on the list. People arriving or traveling through these countries are required to isolate themselves for 10 days upon arrival in Lithuania or take a coronavirus test and receive a negative response.

Arrivals from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of South Africa will continue to be subject to more stringent requirements for coronavirus mutations detected in those countries.

Travelers from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of South Africa will not only need to be tested for the coronavirus, but will also be isolated for 14 days regardless of the test result. The exemption applies only to certain professions (medical professionals, ICT and engineering professionals, transport workers, etc.) that are required to undertake the study, but isolation is not required.

Persons from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of South Africa can leave the place of isolation in cases where they need urgent medical treatment and therefore go to a medical institution as well as a mobile point. With the permission of the National Public Health Center (NVSC), people in isolation can go to a funeral, change the location of isolation, or go to a health care facility for other health care services.

Aliens and Lithuanian citizens in isolation living or working abroad, as well as people who need to leave for medical care reasons, can leave Lithuania for the country where they live, work or work due to a trip from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of South Africa. in which healthcare will be provided before the end of the prescribed isolation period. The NVSC must be notified of the planned departure no later than 24 hours. until the planned departure from Lithuania.

Travelers who must undergo a coronavirus test can do so for 48 hours. during the period prior to arrival in Lithuania or within 24 hours after arrival to request an investigation in Lithuania. You can register for free surveys in Lithuania by calling the 1808 hotline or on the website. The test can also be performed in a private laboratory, but in this case you will have to pay for it.

Foreigners arriving from third countries (except those arriving from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of South Africa) cannot bring the test results, but must isolate them or take the test in Lithuania. However, even with a negative test result, it is recommended to limit the number of contacts and not visit the meeting places for 10 days after returning or arriving in Lithuania.

Persons traveling by air passing through the affected countries without leaving the airport transit area will not be considered to have had contact. No coronavirus testing or isolation is required in such individuals.
