The Lithuanian Minister of Health, like many foreign colleagues, noted that only higher production capacity and shorter vaccine delivery times will help ensure a faster vaccination process and faster control of the pandemic. Accelerated vaccination is especially important in the context of the spread of new virus strains which, due to their infectivity, are a major concern in all EU Member States.
It is also important to shorten the delivery time of vaccines.
Lithuania’s vaccination plan and priority groups were presented to the EU health ministers: doctors, volunteers and other staff working on the front lines of the COVID-19 front, as well as staff and residents of nursing homes, supportive care and social assistance. A table of indicators was also presented that allows citizens to follow the progress of vaccination in the country.

Dulkys reminded his colleagues about the initiative of Lithuania and 12 other EU member states to help their eastern neighbors participating in the Eastern Partnership program to buy vaccines. “EU support will contribute to security in our neighborhood and strengthen the EU’s role outside the Union,” Dulkis said in a statement.
Ministers from other EU Member States welcomed the importance of international solidarity to ensure the availability of vaccines for third countries, as only cooperation and mutual support will help stop the spread of the pandemic globally.
The problem of spreading false information in public space was also raised at the ministerial meeting. The participants of the meeting recognized the important role of the media in the fight against misinformation related to vaccines and vaccines against coronavirus infection.
