Truck and cars collide on Vilnius-Marijampolė highway: 5 Fiat passengers died

Incidentally, in a rush for the call, a team of firefighters were on the same slippery road, but rescuers were not injured.

The Situation Coordination Division of the BNS Fire and Rescue Department immediately reported that five people were injured in the accident, four of whom were crushed in one of the cars.

Rescue teams rescued the victims from the cars with special equipment, and no information was available about their health initially. It soon became clear that the four released were already unconscious, and the doctors could do nothing to help them, they only found death. At that time, the driver of the Fiat was still alive, but due to extremely serious injuries and his life was quickly extinguished.

Firefighters, police and ambulances worked for a long time at the scene.

Vilnius County Police Officer BNS clarified that, according to preliminary data, the accident occurred when Citroën crashed a car on a slippery road. The latter then obstructed the Fiat, which was traveling in the same direction, and pushed it into the opposite lane from the one the tractor had just arrived.

There was a jam at the site of the traffic tragedy from the beginning, but then, to eliminate the consequences, traffic on this section of the national highway was temporarily suspended entirely.
