In 2015, Milda Bliumenzonienė, director of the social center of the Society for the Care of Prisoners, received the St. Christopher statue prize for humanity and noble heart.

She was one of the founders of the Lithuanian Association for the Care of Prisoners, and the director of the Social Care Center constantly helped convicts who had been released from jails. They ensured that these people not only obtained accommodation and meals at the Center, but also knew how to give people hope, inspired self-confidence, motivated them to work, study and develop skills.

M.Bliumenzonienė is also included in the honorable list of the 100 most famous women, compiled on the occasion of Lithuania’s 100th anniversary.

On Friday, the country’s leaders expressed their condolences to their family and colleagues over the death of Milda Bliumenzonienė, a public figure and prisoner guardian.

“We lost a personality who dedicated his life to integrating convicts into society, who believed tirelessly in the goodwill of people and the hope of living differently, in a more meaningful and responsible way,” said President Gitanas Nausėda .

“M.Bliumenzonienė is an example of devotion to a person, we are grateful to him for his efforts to reduce the exclusion of groups in society, to contribute to the necessary assistance to the relatives and relatives of the convicts,” said the President.
