The Šilalė Ambulacas private ambulance station has more than 20 employees. When the country began vaccinating medical personnel against the coronavirus, the station received 12 doses of the vaccine. However, it turned out that half of them did not go to the paramedics, but to the station manager, Ričardas Ūselis, who lives in Vilnius, his family and even a relative.

The businessman explains that he did nothing wrong. He explained to Lietuvos Rytas television that he also owns the vaccine.

“It just came to my attention then. Diabetes, I have a weak heart,” R. Ūselis explained to reporters.

When asked why his family members had also been vaccinated, the businessman explained that they were preparing to volunteer at the ambulance station. But they have not done it yet because they are not vaccinated and they are afraid.

The mayor of the Šilal distrito district, Algirdas Meiženis, announced on Facebook on Monday that he had approached the police to ask them to explain how people living in Vilnius got to Šilalė.

“People ask why, under quarantine conditions, when population movement between municipalities is restricted, Vilnius businessmen and their relatives come to Šilalė with impunity and get vaccinated here at the expense of local doctors.” “We call on the Šilalė District Police Commissariat of the Tauragė County Chief Police Commissariat to investigate the publicly announced events and determine whether these persons did not violate the quarantine restrictions and relevant laws during those trips,” he wrote.

According to the municipality, the list of people to be vaccinated was compiled by Loreta Kalninkaitė, director of the Šilalė ambulance station and member of the municipal council, who suspended her membership in the Union of the Fatherland – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD ).

“I am not a researcher, I will not tell you anything. I’m not talking about the list or the surnames, ”L. Kalninkaitė told reporters.

R. Ūselis plans to go to Šilalė in three weeks, when he will have to be vaccinated with the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

“And what do you think? (…) I did everything right here, I did not offend anyone”, explained R. Ūselis.

Reported on Friday

On Friday, Šilalė Deputy Mayor Tadas Bartkus shared on social media the news that UAB Ambulansas executives and their relatives who came from Vilnius could be vaccinated against the coronavirus in Šilalė.

Shortly thereafter, the Ministry of Health announced that investigations would be launched.

On Friday, the deputy mayor of Šilalė announced on social media that, together with the doctors from Šilal junto, more people had been vaccinated against the coronavirus, such as the executives of the UAB Ambulansas and their relatives, who had even arrived from Vilnius.

Delphi recalls that Vilna businessman Juozas Pranckevičius, who had been vaccinated together with Ambulacas employees, apologized for his actions.

Ask that a second vaccine not be given

The Presidency calls for a second vaccination The Presidency maintains that the first non-consecutive and illegally received COVID-19 vaccine should not be revaccinated to develop immunity to the coronavirus. This position was expressed by Simonas Krėpšta, Chief Advisor to the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, after the meeting between the President and the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health on Monday.

“In our opinion, there is a very clear vaccination schedule and that schedule needs to be followed. So if those people are not eligible to get the vaccine in that order, that vaccine should not be received. It should not have been received before. But looking towards going forward, it is important to follow the established vaccination schedule, “the president’s senior adviser said at a remote press conference.

“This is very important to strengthen public confidence in state institutions,” he added.

For his part, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys stated that he could not yet specify what decision would be made in this regard.

“The situation is really unique and we will see what the solutions will be. There will probably be two fields: if the vaccine has been spilled or if we have the moral right to vaccinate more of these people, ”said Minister A. Dulkys.
