Steps are not enough
As Simonas Krėpšta, head of the Economic and Social Policy Group, told the media after the meeting, the head of the Economic and Social Policy Group said that people who are unfairly overwhelmed are really sad, this needs to be addressed.
“During the meeting, they discussed how to find the right balance between centralization and decentralization, ensuring that these injustices are prevented. A centralized compliance system to verify how vaccinations are carried out or to ensure that classification principles are not violated would certainly give more control, but at the same time it would cost time. Therefore, it is necessary to find the right balance, ”said the president’s adviser.
He argued that the solutions chosen by SAM were not enough.
“More specifically, the President believes that it is good that SAM has taken action yesterday, but it is not enough. Looking ahead, especially at a time when significantly more people will be vaccinated than today, they are at least three more steps, ”said the president’s adviser.
He said that three new steps were needed.
“It is necessary to put in place a certain electronic system to verify compliance with the vaccination schedule in a much more systematic way. Second, it is necessary to review the vaccination order indicated by the Minister of Health, with a clearer definition of the principles when moving between various priority groups. (…) And thirdly, looking to the future, the whole vaccination system must be better coordinated, ”said S. Krėpšta.
“Other countries have certain coordination centers. We also have some beginnings in such a center, but it must be strengthened, because currently we are vaccinating several thousand people a day, in a month we will probably vaccinate tens of thousands a day and the situation will it will complicate a lot and those control mechanisms should be stronger. “said S. Krėpšta, adviser to the president.
The system cannot be fully centralized
After the meeting, Health Minister A. Dulkys stated that it was especially unpleasant to read about the cases described in the media.
“The race for the vaccine is the worst option we could have today in this situation. We form priority groups to vaccinate mainly people fighting coronavirus on the front lines. (…) The beginning of the vaccination process is excellent, the process is smooth, it is very regrettable and unpleasant because of those things that have been made public recently, ”said the Minister.
He said that absolute transparency and openness is needed in this area.
“Control processes should not interfere with vaccination rates. (…) I hope that the trust line is renewed today. “We also initiate random external inspections so that no one can think that they go unpunished,” he explained.
A. Dulkys claimed that the last days showed the true snapshot of society. The Minister stressed that the system cannot be centralized.
“We cannot live in a society with such a climate of mistrust. Not all the processes of the health system can be centralized, because only the treatment institutions themselves and the municipality know better which specific people are working and meet the conditions set forth in the procedure of vaccination. (…)
And in general, today we talk about apparently having the opportunity to see a photograph of ourselves as human beings. This culture of privilege is emerging and all of us, all politicians, centers of power could set an example with their direct behavior and not use privileges, ”said A. Dulkys at the press conference.
When asked by journalists whether illegally vaccinated people should receive a second dose of the coronavirus, the minister has yet to receive an answer.
The representative of the presidency S. Krėpšta was more categorical. He argued that illegally vaccinated people should not receive a second dose of the vaccine.

Strict and decisive decisions are needed
The president said on Sunday that the Ministry of Health (SAM) must develop a clear, detailed and uninterpretable vaccination regime and monitor the process. The head of state says he expects “solutions to solutions, not regrets” from the Minister of Health.
“The Ministry of Health does not have the right to cover the responsibility of the hospitals or does not know how long the investigations will take. The equity and efficiency of the vaccination process is one of the most important responsibilities of the Ministry of Health today. Quick and decisive solutions are needed to cover the responsibility of these people who only care about their own fur. It is necessary to define and manage the entire vaccination process, control it in hospitals, if necessary, appoint only those responsible for it ”, said the President.
A. Dulkys announced on Sunday night that he had decided to oblige the heads of the municipal administrations to control vaccination in the institutions subordinate to them and to investigate the alleged violations. According to him, the procedure for making lists of priority groups is also being modified and strengthened.
The cases will also be clarified by the forces of order
Following the introduction of coronavirus vaccination in Lithuania, there have been reports in the media of cases where unauthorized doctors or medicine-related businessmen have been vaccinated according to the established order of precedence. The Health Ministry and law enforcement officials say they will clear up these cases.
