During quarantine, doctors working in difficult conditions will travel to work more safely. Krasta Auto, the official representative of the German car manufacturer BMW in Lithuania, provided new cars to doctors at the Santara Clinics of the Vilnius University Hospital.
“We are grateful to the country’s doctors, heroes who work selflessly in extreme conditions, with extreme loads. Some of them have to travel to work and home by public transport, after long night stays or all day in protective suits. We hope that When they travel by private car, doctors are safer and this will at least make their daily life easier, give them joy and at the same time reflect the gratitude felt by many people in the country for their concern for their health ”, says Martynas Daujotas, BMW brand manager in Lithuania.
According to him, the cars were delivered to doctors in different fields, including recipients: doctors, residents, nurses and laboratory personnel. The new models will be available to doctors until strict quarantine conditions are released in the country.
“While I work in the Covid department, I run the constant risk of becoming infected, of becoming a virus carrier, so it is not safe to have to travel to and from work by public transport. Furthermore, it is physically exhausting work, emotionally and psychologically: After a day of waiting in general, most people want to fall into bed to regain strength. With the car, my trips between work and home will not only be safer, but also three times more short and nice, so I am grateful to BMW for this initiative, ”said a woman who works as a general practice nurse at VUL Santara Clinics.
“The Covid-19 laboratory has to work both day and night, as much as necessary, not counting overtime. Here I take care that the results obtained enter the esveikata.lt system and the patients are informed in a timely manner. I drive about 50 km to work and home every day, so a vehicle is necessary. “By providing access to a BMW car, Krasto Auto will facilitate commuting until my car is delivered to me for repair,” says an employee of the Covid Laboratory at the VUL Santara Clinic Laboratory Medical Center.
Safety of medical trips will also increase with safety equipment installed in cars: automatic emergency braking function, car lane keeping system, blind spot monitoring function and rear view camera. Many of the models provided feature the advanced xDrive all-wheel drive system, which ensures greater driving safety, especially in winter conditions.
BMW carries out such cooperation with doctors not only in Lithuania, but also in other countries. More recently, BMW representatives in Sweden handed it over to car doctors.
“We have noticed that the demand is higher than the available cars, so we invited other representatives of the automakers who have an unused parking lot due to the quarantine to join this initiative,” said Daujotas.
This health initiative from Krasta Auto is not the first. The company promotes blood donation, many of the company employees are regular blood donors.
