Judo Clubs Request – Fulfilled: Federation Membership Canceled Sports

The request for cancellation of membership was sent by the clubs “Danas”, “Ryto saul sa”, “Plungės judo”, “Mangustas”, “Kumikata”, “Randori”. His letter was discussed at a remote Executive Committee meeting. The request from the “Sfinksas” club was also received, but the letter from the latter was not attended, because according to article 14.5 of the LDF statutes, this club has not been a member of the federation since 2020 due to violations.

According to the president of the LDF, Vigmantas Sinkevičius, although the clubs have terminated their membership, this will not affect the activities of the federation or the athletes. According to the LDF statutes, the absence of a member of the federation does not prevent athletes from participating in national championships and other official tournaments. Thus, if athletes meet the qualification requirements applicable to all participants, they will be able to compete for national championship medals and pursue other sporting heights.

According to V. Sinkevičius, although the retired clubs form a small part of the judo community, it is regrettable that the path of ultimatums was chosen instead of dialogue.

“All members of the federation are free to choose their status and activities. We do not stand in the way of that. However, we will never support destructive actions to divide the judo community. Attempts by some actors to create as many clubs as possible to satisfy his personal ambitions have ended as predicted: a lot of noise but little profit. And no rational proposals and solutions. So it is possible that his withdrawal will benefit much of the judo community. For my part, I have no He doubts that we will continue to ensure the proper functioning of the federation, ”said the LDF president.

V. Sinkevičius emphasized once again that despite the withdrawal of some clubs, the LDF leadership, which has the support of the most important judo organizations in Europe and the world, is open to dialogue and appreciates the contribution of all members of the community to the development of Olympic sports.

According to the president of the LDF, despite the pandemic situation, this season is extremely responsible for the Lithuanian athletes, coaches and judges. This year, national championships of various age groups, as well as European and world championships await the representatives of our country. It is also expected to have Lithuanian representatives at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
