Aggressive cancer hits Eimantas at lightning speed: family calls for support and help | Lifetime

According to Eimantas’ mother, Jolanta Žvikevičienė, Eimantas felt ill at the end of September. At first glance, the seemingly innocent pain in the muscles of the legs concealed an insidious disease.

“In September, the son was working in the garden and when he returned home he complained that his leg muscles ached. My husband and I think the pain could be due to physical labor. Since Eimantas is exercising, he joked that he apparently does very little exercise and should exercise more.

A week later, I noticed that he was limping and asked him what had happened. The son replied that there was no way to get over the pain in his leg. I thought, maybe it crashed, I looked for cracks, everything looked good. A few days later, Eimantas said she couldn’t go to bed, ”says Jolanta.

From the doctors – shocking news

Then the unexpected and anxious mother rushed her son to the doctors; He first went to the Kaunas Red Cross Clinical Hospital, where he did an X-ray for Eimantas. As the specialists did not have the opportunity to evaluate the soft tissues, the family was sent to the Kaunas clinics.

“I thought maybe the muscles were missing. After going to the clinics, a photo was taken again and an ultrasound was performed. Subsequently, it was decided to perform a computed tomography. At that time, we already learned that an oncological disease was suspected, and Eimantas had to go to the hospital for more detailed examinations; a biopsy would be performed, ”recalls J.Žvikevičienė.

A biopsy was done a few days later and sent to Vilnius, and then all the tests were sent to the Tumor Center in the Netherlands. At that time, MRI scans were performed again in Kaunas, and the oncologist said that Eimantas may have a form of ultra-rapid oncological disease.

“After receiving all the responses from Holland as a matter of urgency, the diagnosis of femoral sarcoma of the left leg was confirmed. Eimantas received ten chemotherapies before surgery, during which he required a knee and femoral prosthesis, and after that, twenty more chemotherapies.

A total of five chemotherapies are currently underway and we are now awaiting surgery, which is scheduled for the end of January. Today we have had blood tests done, which unfortunately are very bad, so chemotherapy doctors cannot do it; blood tests will be done again in the near future. We hope to continue with the treatment, ”says Eimantas’s mother.

The boy’s daily routine is chemotherapy and waiting for surgery.

Right now, as Jolanta says, Eimantas’ life is in bed. A man can only walk on crutches, as doctors ask him not to remember the leg so that he does not lose load and weight. The leg can break, so it must be protected, because if it breaks, cancer cells can spread throughout the body in the form of metastases.

“Because the son is receiving chemotherapy, he feels weak, pain, severe nausea, vomiting. Eimantas don’t eat for a few days and their blood counts are bad.

As for the future of the son’s health, all we know is that there are three more waiting after the first operation. Because chemotherapy will be used after the first surgery, it will be very difficult and slow to heal, and there may be complications that increase the number of surgeries. But we believe that everything will work out, ”says Jolanta.

During this difficult time for the family and Eimantas, the support of people, friends, classmates, relatives, Eimantas sports coach, messages received, calls, letters help more.

Jolanta also writes on her Facebook account: “We pray that all is well. If I had to say what Eimantas is like, I would not say for long that she is a madly patient teenager, whose “most beautiful year” is surgery, drips, nausea night and day. It is a long journey through life that the son clings to infinitely because he has a purpose. Aim to recover, learn and play sports. And we pray that those goals are achieved.

Together with Eimantas, we would like to thank the Kaunas clinics doctors, department staff, all friends, family, educators, the coach and everyone who contributed, thank you very much.
