Veryga: even if quarantine is lifted, some restrictions will remain

Veryga said that even if the quarantine were lifted, there would be some restrictions. Entry is likely to be restricted from those foreign countries where the spread of the virus is significantly greater than in Lithuania or Europe. Mass events should also continue to be restricted.

“And part of the instructions on what was an obligation will probably go to the recommendations, because after the end of the quarantine, these measures will not come out as an obligation. We are talking about using the same protection for the face and nose, self-isolation Step by step, we went back in reverse order as we entered quarantine. At first, it all started with recommendations, “said A. Veryga.

Hospitals will continue to need to manage patient flows and ensure hygiene.

“Medical facilities will continue to have to be vigilant. But we are already releasing many restrictions,” said A. Veryga.

There is still a worrying debate about events taking place in public spaces, as only 300 people can attend. Several thousand people rest on the beaches. When asked by the Minister, it may be necessary to determine the number of participants per space and if the decisions are really logical, A. Veryga replied that they are really logical and necessary.

“I can only regret a little and remind you that we forgot everything in a few weeks and it seems that there is nothing. Until recently, there have been requests and demands for clear rules and numbers, procedures, and this should suffice. But, you know, people are like that already, the appetite comes from eating and there never seems to be an end. To determine a thousand, it would take 10,000. We are talking about a large crowd of people. The beach should not yet be compared to an event, as people do not travel to the beach through lockers, hangouts, and are a much more fragmented group of people where the virus is much less likely to spread. The event itself, even if it is in a larger area, the participants meet in a very short time, in a very short time they need to get out of there, they need to use the toilets generally at the same time. Those are many risks. Let us rejoice that Lithuania now has the situation it has, cultural events are renewed. Yes, I understand that this is not the same as before the quarantine, but perhaps it is more rational to be a little patient and be more responsible, but to avoid painful consequences when events should be closed at all, “said the minister.

4 import cases

As Rolanda Lingienė, head of the Vilnius department of the National Center for Public Health, said at the press conference, 4 import cases have been registered in Lithuania since June 1. The individuals came from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, and Nigeria.

According to R. Lingienė, active chimneys are currently registered in Vilnius, Kaunas and Utena counties.

On Wednesday, 3 cases of coronavirus were confirmed: 2 of them in Vilnius and 1 in Klaipeda. Two cases are imported.

“In Vilnius County, the first case is imported from Germany. On June 2, at approximately 7 o’clock in the morning, the person crossed the Lithuanian border at the Kalvarijai border checkpoint, a total of 6 people were traveling in the car, 4 of them from the UK, 2 of them were drivers. I traveled from Germany, boarded a bus in Düsseldorf and now we are looking for this person. Therefore, all the people who know that their acquaintance, a close person could be informed, ”said R. Lingienė.

Case 1 – in a large warehouse

Another case concerns Kibirkšties Street 6, a large warehouse with a large number of employees. According to R. Lingienė, the person became ill on May 23. After 2 days, he contacted the Vilnius Karoliniškės Polyclinic remotely, suspected another illness, and prescribed treatment. According to the NVSC representative, the appointment of this treatment is being clarified with the administration of the clinic. On June 1, after a significant deterioration in health, he was transported to the Santara clinics. Currently, the person’s condition is severe and he is being treated for resuscitation. The epidemiological diagnosis identified 2 exposed individuals in the family and up to 61 individuals in the workplace.

“The circumstances of the infection are not clear, because the person is not interviewed due to his very poor state of health, communication with his relatives. The epidemiological diagnosis in this case is really very complicated,” said R. Lingienė.

The last case diagnosed in Klaipeda County is an import case from Nigeria, the person is a sailor, a citizen of Ukraine. The ship set sail from the coast of Spain on May 29 from Las Palmo, Spain, by plane to Madrid, Frankfurt and Riga. He drove from Riga to Klaipeda by company car. He was accompanied by other crew members, about 14 people.

“The sick person indicates that the first symptoms appeared while he was still in Nigeria, so urgent notifications should be made through the early warning and response system for risky flights. I would also like to address the people of Lithuania: if you flew from Frankfurt to the Riga airport on May 29, please contact NVSC immediately, ”said R. Lingienė.
