The Employment Service invites applications from those who want to create a job for themselves. Applicants must meet certain requirements.

New screening of applications for the self-employment support measure will begin on January 6, the report says.

“This is a great opportunity for those who are determined to act independently in these difficult times. I believe that a person can be helped more not by sharing fish, but by giving away a fishing rod and learning to fish. This is our main objective and the meaning of our activities, although during a pandemic it may seem that our purpose is to distribute temporary benefits and subsidies, ”says Inga Balnanosienė, Director of the Employment Service.

Applications for self-employment support will be accepted until February 5. including in the customer service departments of the Employment Service, in whose territories it is planned to establish a workplace.

Jobseekers with the status of unemployed can submit documents that, together with the employment adviser from the Employment Service, discussed and developed an individual action plan for employment and provided for participation in the self-employment support measure.

Likewise, those who are creating employment for the first time in micro-enterprises as defined in the Law for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises and meet one of the conditions: be people with disabilities of working age, young people under 29 years old, over 45 people, states the report.

The costs anticipated in the application budget must be intended to create a job or allow direct job functions to be performed on the job. The amount of the allowance for a planned job must not exceed the amount of the monthly minimum wage approved by the Government (EUR 19,921).

When evaluating applications for self-employment support, much attention is paid to increasing employment in rural areas, areas with the highest unemployment, the contribution of the applicant’s own funds and the amount of support requested. It is also planned to create the number of additional jobs, the applicant’s ability to perform the job functions in the intended position based on available qualifications and work experience.

Last year 1,032 applications for support for self-employment were submitted to the Employment Service. Currently 607 are funded. They have created jobs for psychologists, surveyors, tattooists, photographers, print designers and others.
