The Vilnius Regional Court Judge Arūnas Budrys announced that V. Tankevičius, who had been convicted and administratively punished several times before, should be isolated from society for 8 years. In addition, he will have to pay 5,000 euros in moral damages to the murderer’s sister, both to the woman recognized as a victim and requested by court order.

The crime for which V. Tankevičius was convicted took place in the spring: St. On the eve of Easter. While drinking, it was discovered that he stabbed a 57-year-old neighbor who lived in the town of Bielazariškės with a knife. Although the killer claimed that the only blow was light, he did so with a knife and a vital organ. Doctors indicated that the man died of a stab wound, a blind chest wound that was complicated by acute hemorrhage; the wounded man died about half an hour later.

Case data, April 11. V. Tankevičius drank in the village. None, a brother and a friend, as well as the neighbors, had fun together.

“I remember well that everything happened on Saturday. I returned to my sister’s house after work, we decided to have a drink,” said the defendant during interrogation. – At that time, the brother had gone to the neighboring town to the neighbor, and when he returned, he told him that he had to go find his girlfriend. I also went to the town where she lived; when we went, we met a neighbor who lived with his brother’s girlfriend. Before returning home, we drank a little with the victim, then I offered to come to our house together for another drink. “

The neighbor agreed: the company was sitting in the same car again. Along the way, a conflict arose between the drunken men: offended by the petty conflict, V. Tankevičius once struck a man suitable for his parents in the face. The blow was so strong that it even fell from the carriage. And when he returned, the men were immediately reconciled.

“When we returned home, my brother and his girlfriend went out and we started drinking,” said V. Tankevičius. – After that, the victim asked me to smoke, but I no longer had cigarettes, so he began to grab me, touch me, yell at me and insult me in every way. At the time, I was standing at the table, preparing a sandwich and holding a knife in my right hand, holding it blade down. When the neighbor stood behind me and insulted me with various words, he shook himself over his shoulder, I became nervous and, holding the knife, I turned to the victim, and once I struck the knife from top to bottom , somewhere to the left. She immediately dropped into the chair next to him. “

V. Tankevičius claimed that “he hit his neighbor weakly because he was close.”

“I think I stabbed him superficially, and the victim could have stabbed the knife more when it fell,” the convict repeatedly pleaded to hit his neighbor without wanting to kill him, but only because he was angry with his insults. “I didn’t think and didn’t mean to hit it with a knife, I thought it would hit the handle, but somehow I hit with the sharp part.”

The man living in the Vilnius district did not hide the fact that his actions were influenced by alcohol, because he was drunk at the time.

“If I had been sober at the time, I wouldn’t have done it,” he assured her.

“After the hit, I was very scared – I immediately picked up the victim, put her on the bed, took out a knife and dropped it, probably under the bed – and then I saw blood coming out of her mouth,” recalled the killer the terrible facts. “Then I looked to see if he was still alive,” he seemed to be breathing. I picked up the phone, my hands started shaking, I didn’t know what to do next, so I took a knife out from under the bed and went outside to see where my brother was. I wanted him to call an ambulance, but I couldn’t find a brother or his girlfriend. I dropped the knife somewhere near the house and went back inside to see how the victim was feeling. I had already fallen by his side. So I decided to call an ambulance; when i called i said the person was hurt and maybe they could come see me. So I didn’t dare say that I hurt him. I was scared, then I was shaking. “

According to the man, doctors arrived home within minutes and, after examining the injured, reported that he was dead.

“If the ambulance had come faster, maybe the neighbor would still be alive,” said V. Tankevičius, who did not call the doctors immediately.

“The doctors called the police and told them not to enter the house, the bank,” according to the man, seeing the ambulance, his brother returned home.

During questioning, he told officials that his brother bought alcoholic beverages that Saturday when he returned from work.

“He sat in the car and went to the store to buy a bag of alcohol,” said the witness who drank only a few glasses that day, and since his brother had killed his neighbor, he had not seen him go out to feed the animals at that moment.

“After a few minutes, the brother ran out and said: ‘I didn’t recover, I left without success because the man died,'” he recalled. – When I entered the house I saw a neighbor lying down, he was bloody, so I left immediately. I don’t think the brother realized at first that he had killed the neighbor, they were both drunk. “

The witness assured him that his brother became someone else when he drank. True, not always.

“Anyway, he’s in the normal way of drinking, he’s not pushy, he just plays the music and everything,” she said. – But sometimes he is very aggressive and unpredictable, especially when someone “catches his eye”. But as it was this time, I did not see it, I did not know that my brother was angry with his neighbor. “

At the time, the killer’s sister said that her brother was not aggressive either, but that his life was ruined by alcohol.

“The brother drank, like everyone else, he did not officially work, but he was a laborer, he never responded and helped everyone in the town, thus making a living,” said the murderer’s sister, who was recognized as the victim. “And when he drank, he wasn’t really in conflict, he was very upset, but he didn’t beat anything.”

Another neighbor responded positively to the murder in court: “He was a good person, he helped everyone with his work, we paid him for the work he did, but he liked to drink alcohol, so to speak, he lived an antisocial lifestyle.”

At that time, the court did not hear about the beautiful languages of V. Tankevičius. “Of course, I did not know him, but I did not hear very good comments from the neighbors, as well as from the people of another village, about this: that he wanted to set his mother-in-law on fire, or maybe he had set her on fire.”

After the murder, the doctors found that both the murderer and the victim were drunk: V. Tankevičius was prosecuted with a little more than one per thousand and the murdered with more than three per thousand.

The Vilnius Regional Court judge A. Budrys, who examined the criminal case, noted in the conviction that, according to V. Tankevičius, although he did not want to kill the absorber, the blow to the victim’s chest was only a response to his behavior. the behavior of the intoxicated victim towards the accused for not receiving cigarettes “was not intense or particularly offensive, it could not have caused a sudden, great and intoxicating state of agitation.

“The men continued drinking throughout the day and there were already disagreements between them during the day,” emphasized the judge who analyzed the situation.

According to him, although the victim, according to the accused, did not die immediately, but his testimony and medical data show that V. Tankevičius did not provide assistance to the victim immediately, he called an ambulance only after the search of his brother, when the wounded he was unconscious and not breathing – he was dead.

“There is no doubt that the impact of the knife, according to the identified injuries, was strong enough,” emphasized the judge.

According to the court, all the circumstances of the case confirm that V. Tankevičius, hitting an intoxicated and intoxicated victim in a vital part of the body, perceived the danger and threat to his health or life, but was indifferent to the consequences that might arise because of its motive and purpose – display of anger, education of the victim and punishment for teasing and name-calling.

“In his conscience, V. Tankevičius did not detail the possible seriousness of the consequences of his actions, that is, he did not care about the consequences, the deprivation of life or certain health disorders,” said the judge that the resident of the district of Vilnius prosecuted had killed his neighbor acting indirectly. .

According to the court, it is clear from the evidence examined in the case that V. Tankevičius has a tendency to abuse alcoholic beverages and this affects his psyche and behavior.

“He has repeatedly acted in a dangerous way for society, has repeatedly expressed his impulsiveness with sufficiently aggressive acts against his family members, has disregarded universally accepted rules of conduct, has disregarded applicable legal decisions and responsibilities, has not drawn conclusions about his behavior above, he has not changed his lifestyle. ” – the court is convinced that a prison sentence of 8 years can create preconditions for achieving the objectives of the sentence and, once all or part of the sentence has been served, the person can return to freedom after a change in attitude before life.
