According to S. Krėpšta, the president and the minister also discussed the vaccination strategy and sequence. Nausėda was pleased that the vaccination plan was revealed in detail on Tuesday, which, in the president’s view, would bring more clarity to the public.
According to S. Krėpšta, it is important to reveal how many people are in each group. The Adviser to the President also welcomed the increased clarity regarding the supply of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine over the next three months. Vaccine shipments must arrive in Lithuania every week.
Hospitals, medical institutions and the need to strengthen them were also discussed. Here we see the situation. That almost a third of patients are currently treated in hospitals for COVID-19 reasons and it is a very heavy burden.
Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of patients in several directions, as well as to avoid the excessive number of deaths from other diseases that is currently observed, which has been really high in recent months, ”said S. Krėpšta.
According to the Presidency, the institutions under the “wing” of the Ministry of Health (SAM) lack quality activities and various problems, therefore, according to S. Krėpšta, it is necessary to comprehensively strengthen the work of these institutions so that their work is as fluent as possible.
The National Center for Public Health (NVSC) has received much criticism recently. According to S. Krėpšta, G. Nausėda and A. Dulkys also discussed the activities of this institution and the need to strengthen it.
“We know that some activities, some functions of this institution are not performed as well as they should and it is necessary to strengthen this institution. The issue of a person is not the main issue,” said the president’s adviser.
Speaking about the current quarantine restrictions, S. Krėpšta noted that, in the president’s opinion, they are adequate.
“They are strict, but the pandemic situation in Lithuania is bad,” said S. Krėpšta.
According to him, the situation should be assessed every week, and consequently the restrictions should be more stringent or relaxed.
Health Minister A. Dulkys announced on Monday that the priorities of how to vaccinate against COVID-19 have already been completed. According to him, after the elaboration of this plan, there will be vaccines and fluid logistical and organizational measures.
The first vaccinated doctors working with COVID-19 patients in Lithuania. Earlier it was announced that increased vaccination is planned for all hospital staff, as well as ambulance personnel and high-risk patients. Subsequently, it is planned to vaccinate doctors working in mobile points, fever clinics, residents and employees of nursing and assistance institutions.
It is unlikely that vaccination of the world population will begin in the first quarter of this year.
