This morning, multiple Bulgarian champion and full-time participant in the Group stage of the European Tournament, Razgrad Ludogorec, announced that he would put a Lithuanian at the head of the head coach. Participation Dambrauskas.
During his career, the 43-year-old specialist from Pakruojis has trained Panevėžys Ekranas, Vilnius Žalgiris, Riga RFS, and for the last ten months – Velika Gorica HNK Gorica Club in Croatia.
It was with this small Croatian club that V. Dambrauskas demonstrated such results, which attracted the attention of the Bulgarian giants. Leaving Gorica’s team, the Lithuanian left him in third place in the standings, and such a mid-season result surprised many.
By accepting the challenge from Ludogorec’s club, the Lithuanian will not only have the opportunity to fight for the Bulgarian champion title (Ludogorec is currently leading the local championships), but also a very real opportunity to test himself in the group stage of the Champions or the European League.
Next week V. Dambrauskas will be officially introduced to the press, and tonight the Lithuanian wrote a farewell letter to the Gorica team and its fans. V. Dambrauskas wrote on his Instagram account:
“It is difficult to write these words, just as it was difficult to make that decision. Since I arrived in Velika Gorica, I immediately felt a connection with the city, with the people, with the peace that accompanied me here. 2020 has not been an easy year for anyone, we have fought against a pandemic, we have experienced earthquakes, isolation and quarantine. I never felt alone during this difficult time. I felt accepted, I felt part of this beautiful community in Velika Gorica.
In training camp, we work hard, we fight, we argue, we disagree, but we also have a good time, we support each other and we become a real team. Then came the results… The results come with responsibilities, but also opportunities. One of those opportunities came my way. An opportunity that I could not give up because it will give me a great challenge, a goal and a vision. If you play sports, always dream and be at peace with the above. I always live by my motto that the most dangerous and disappointing thing about football is that it remains mediocre, losing sight of the peak and the ambitions. You have to show what you can every day. That is why I decided to leave HNK Gorica.
These words will certainly not be enough to thank the players, staff, sporting director, media, stadium staff and fans of HNK Gorica. You know who you are. I had the greatest privilege to work with you! I will always be your biggest fan, I will always be ready to help and support. I can’t even say goodbye because I know our paths will still cross.
I would like to especially thank the president of the club, Nenad Črnko. This is the person who created this club every day and for whom I have the greatest respect. He is a person who creates opportunities for others to dream of the greatest goals.
I am grateful to each of you who supported me on this 10 month journey. To the people who greeted me on the street who came to watch the game and wished us good luck. Thank you, thank you and thank you again. It was an adventure I will never forget! “
