The third shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by BioNTech and Pfizer will arrive in Lithuania on Monday.
“The vaccine arrives tomorrow, January 4. The exact time will still be specified,” said Aistė Šuksta, spokesman for the Minister of Health.
Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys said this week that he expected the third shipment to contain at least 20,000 doses of vaccine.
Lithuania has so far received two shipments of vaccines manufactured by BioNTech and Pfizer, a total of 20 thousand. 475 doses.
The first shipment was distributed to the top five hospitals in the country last weekend; medical vaccination started and was completed in the middle of the week.
The second shipment, depending on the receipt of the third shipment, was intended to be used for the revaccination of physicians.
The BioNTech and Pfizer vaccine is the first and so far the only one authorized in the European Union.
