“In an athlete’s career, injuries often happen at the most inopportune moment, so it happened to me. When we intensively prepared with my partner, we became runners-up in the competition, even then I felt that the thumb joint my leg began to bother me. Then it began to swell, inflammation appeared “, Eglė will tell in the program.

The woman, who grew up in a family of athletes, says that she has realized from an early age that professional sports are accompanied by pain. Especially from active physical activity, the joints begin to suffer first.

The wear and tear of cartilage in the joints is one of the most common causes of joint pain and deformity. Practice shows that almost everyone who sees a family doctor mentions joint pain, among other complaints.

“Dad is a boxing coach, my brother is a professional soccer player, my mother has been doing aerobics all my life, so in our family there is no personal care. We all know that if it is a sport, sometimes something, and many Sometimes everything hurts, ”laughs Egle.

According to experts, complaints related to the movement have only recently increased. First of all, there are pains, swelling, joint disorders. Physical pain can be caused by several reasons: if it is inflammation, the swollen tissue hurts, but when the articular cartilage wears away, the bone begins to come into contact with the bone, thus causing pain.

“Joint problems have many causes: one is heredity, as well as nutritional and overweight problems, and the third is certain inflammatory diseases that, if not treated properly, damage the joints. In practice, we find a lot of reactive arthritis, when the joints suffer from other diseases, inflammatory diseases, ”says Jūratė Ivanauskienė, GP at My Family Clinic.

When it comes to joint activity, collagen production in the body becomes extremely important. It offers the shape of a protein, one of the most important supporting proteins in the connective tissue of the intercellular protein and in the basement membrane of the epithelial tissue. According to the researchers, after the age of 25, the production of collagen in the human body begins to slow down, and the decrease in this protein causes a faster wear of the cartilage in the joints, causing pain.

“Collagen is for the reconstruction of connective tissue, and we have connective tissue both in the joints and in the skin, tendons, so to maintain the function of that connective tissue, collagen is needed. Unfortunately, we don’t get much from food, ”says the doctor. J. Ivanauskiene.

Based on the eating habits of society, researchers are developing effective dietary supplements specifically designed to support joints and their function. One of them is Cemio Gemzė, which contains collagen type I and II and vitamin C to feed cartilage in healthy joints.

“When it comes to professional sports, food supplements are almost essential. Since I recently became familiar with collagen myself, I also gave my dad this food supplement. At first it was necessary to convince him to start using it, but now he is happy with the results and affirms that the difference is really felt. When it comes to health, I follow the golden rule that taking care of it is a contribution to the future, because you have to take care of yourself when everything is fine before it hurts “, says Eglė.

Freedom of movement is not subject to time

A loyal viewer of the “Health Tree” show, Sabina Uptien hace, 73, easily makes twine. It is a real example that the year that passes is no reason to stop enjoying freedom of movement. One way to prevent joint pain is daily exercise, which helps increase the range of joint movements and strengthens the body. While the sports clubs are closed, Ms. Sabina exercises at home and always outdoors: a rug on the balcony of the apartment building. The woman says that in a narrow space there is no crowding, because all exercises are thought to be in one line.

“It just came to our knowledge then. Not looking for reasons why I can’t do it, but looking for opportunities for what I can do and as much as possible. In the morning I do my first exercise in bed and then after having a cup coffee, I start playing music and I start doing sports on the balcony ”, says Sabina.

Urinary incontinence is not a reason to give up the desired rhythm of life

In Lithuania, as in the rest of the world, people of the same age suffer from urinary incontinence. The statistics are more unfavorable for the elderly, especially women. For them, urinary incontinence can occur due to hormonal changes during pregnancy or after menopause, gynecological operations. Still, most people who face this problem avoid speaking loudly, feel embarrassed, and do not seek medical help.

“We dare to say that the joints hurt, poor vision or high blood pressure, but few dare to admit that they do not retain urine. However, that problem doesn’t go away just because we’re not talking about it, ”says Izolda Jakuševa, a trainer who teaches yoga classes for older people.

In the section “Thank you, doctor”, the story of Jokūbėlis, which shook the whole of Lithuania

A cheerful, active boy, always smiling and curious: this is Jacob, who was born more than a year ago. Unfortunately, while he was still in the womb, his development was interrupted by a rare genetic change, so the boy was born without a femur. This message radically changed the lives of Jacob’s parents, Rimvydas and Milda Melkūnai, and their two older children. By contacting a doctor, the family learned that Jacob’s fate could change, but this was only possible through an extremely complex and expensive operation.

“Jacob has a hip problem and he doesn’t have a femur. Therefore, it requires a complex operation in which the leg is rotated and a knee joint is formed from the ankle joint. It allows us to land, ride and ride a bicycle with prosthetics, to live a full life, which each of us lives, ”says Rimvydas Melkūnas, the father of the show.
