On Sunday, Saudi Arabia will host the first stage of the Dakar Rally, which is probably the most difficult race in the world.

The riders who passed the 11 km prologue yesterday will have a much greater challenge this time, and after 346 km, they will have a 277 km section and six intermediate WP points.

Road surface: 49% gravel, 48% sand, 3% dry riverbeds and canyons. According to the official Antanas Juknevičius Facebook account, in some places participants will have to be especially careful with stony areas.

According to the organizers, this section of speed will be a test for sailors, at least some roads will cross in certain places that will not be marked in the road book, so the runners will have to closely follow the routes and make friends with the compass.

“By Dakar standards, it’s a quick and easy stage. The challenges will start in the middle of the speed section as the roads become twisty and narrow, with many dangerous rocks both on the road and nearby. Special care must be taken as the wheels and tires will suffer. Later, slower and faster stages will be repeated, and there will be a challenge for sailors, because there will be roads where the road will not be marked in the book, ”said Antanas Juknevičius co-driver about the first speed section. Darius Vaičiulis.

101 motorcyclists, 64 cars, 16 quadricycles, 44 trucks and 61 buggies set off in the first speed section.
