Beata Bernadišienė, representative of the NVSC, informed BNS about this, also stated that employees from various departments had contributed to the writing of the letter.
“The forces of the Communication Department, as well as the Personnel Department, as well as the accounting department contributed, called and gave their opinion to the lawyers. The director was not present here, “said a representative from NVSC.
According to her, every day the employees inform those responsible for the institution about the criticisms received, they complain about their well-being.
The forces of the Department of Communication, as well as the Department of Personnel, as well as the Department of Accounting contributed, as well as called and gave their opinion to the lawyers.
“Every day the chief of staff calls people with fears and questions. He e-mails the situation, complains about his poor physical and emotional condition and it just is, ”said B. Bernadišienė.
According to her, the letter is not signed because the institution currently works remotely, and the letter was created after receiving “responses from psychologists.”
“It is not signed because we all work remotely and it was created by psychologists who came in last night,” said an NVSC spokeswoman.
According to her, before sending an “open letter” to the media addressed to Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonyte and Health Minister Arūnas Dulkis, it was reviewed by Deputy Directors Giedrius Nariūnas and Raimondas Vaidginas.
NVSC also informed BNS that the letter was based on a staff survey conducted December 14-28.
An electronic survey of 360 employees at the center asked how employees currently feel about how increased workload affects their mental, emotional and physical health.
According to NVSC, the conclusion of the survey is that the employees are exhausted, the condition is bad, but the NVSC did not provide detailed survey data.
B. Bernadišienė stated that the survey was organized by psychologists from the Center for Human Studies and could give more detailed answers “after the holidays”.
At the time, some NVSC employees who did not want to be named BNS on Thursday said they were urged to participate in the survey but were not informed about the open letter and said they only found out from the media.
The work of the NVSC, which conducts epidemiological investigations of coronavirus cases, was criticized by both Health Minister A. Dulkys and Prime Minister I. Šimonytė.

He said responsibility for the 804 unaccounted for deaths and the center’s work should be assumed by NVSC management.
In a letter that was circulated at the time, the NVSC expressed concern over “unfounded criticism” from the center and its manager, saying it was disrupting “the work of the NVSC, which was already bearing an unbearable burden.”
“It also has a very negative effect on all employees of the institution, who personally accept this criticism, because they work together with the manager and make decisions together,” the letter reads.
It states that the institution “demotivates and negatively affects NVSC employees, their emotional and mental condition.”
“After reading unsubstantiated statements in the press about the head of the NVSC, the staff anxiously contacted the head of the personnel department and asked him to explain why such things are happening, why no one wants to know what it is really like. . “Says the letter.
This also has a very negative effect on all employees of the institution who personally accept this criticism.
“We do not have weekends, we no longer celebrate holidays. Both the director of the institution and all employees, excluding the working day, have been working in extreme conditions for almost a year. Recently, many specialists have left their work due to a load unbearable work ”, he adds.
The letter states that the NVSC receives “many obstacles” on a daily basis: reports, explanations and data from individual case studies are required.
The letter also indicates that NVSC incumbent Robertas Petraitis has taken steps to streamline and digitize processes since the beginning of his tenure, and has consistently sought the assistance of the Ministry of Health and other government officials.
Among other things, the letter acknowledges that the country’s performance in handling the pandemic is not good, but calls for “all competent authorities” to work together.
