On the eve of the new – about the wrong corridors of the Seimas, “advantages” and wishes

[ad_1]

– For a month and a half you live at a completely different pace. Unlike the elders of the Seimas, you had to start … by familiarizing yourself with the corridors of the Seimas. Are you not lost?

– No more in the hallways. However, the work of the Seimas is very intense, there are many bills. Not easy to catch for a newbie. I am well acquainted with the issues examined by the Seimas Rural Affairs Commission, of which I am vice-president. I see that my colleagues do not work during the first trimester, they are like fish in water. And I still have a lot of time to dig into all the issues we are considering. It may not be possible to know all the areas very well, but I must know why I am voting.

– Know well the lives of the people of both the region and the city. What is important for you as a politician to know about this today?

– It must be important for every politician to know who, by whom and how our people live today. Due to strict quarantine restrictions, I do not have the opportunity to meet people live. Like other citizens, I cannot drive through the eastern constituency of Séla, where I am elected to the Seimas. However, even in difficult conditions, communication did not stop: people call, write, send inquiries, ask for advice.

– What requests can you already help with the plus?

– The requests were varied. From personal financial support, sponsorship in the acquisition of exhibits related to Rokiškis, assistance to get to the COVID-19 sampling site to contributing to the decisions of the Seimas, which required a lot of work. One of them is an amendment to the Pharmacy Law. We achieved that by 2023. Pharmacies not employed by a pharmacist, but by a pharmacist, could operate in July. This is very important for regions, especially during quarantine.

I worked a lot for next year’s aid (25 EUR / ha) for farmers working in disadvantaged areas (LFA).

Farmers from several districts, the Lithuanian Association for Sustainable Non-Arable Agriculture and members of the Rokiškis District Council requested help. The issue is not over yet, but there is hope that the additional support payment to farmers in elderly who did not meet LFA status in 2021. will be expanded. There are 5 such elders in the Rokiškis district, and 69 in the whole country, the area of cultivated land in them is about 0.5 million. say ah.

– The work of a member of the Seimas can be evaluated according to many parameters: from the bills presented to the activity of attending the sessions.

– Frankly, the statistics on attendance to letters received, projects sent, projects presented or meetings are not so important to me. I came to the Seimas from a business that requires specificity, responsibility and results. I don’t speak beautiful languages (laughs, aut. Past).

– The people of this Seimas expect to work without problems. You work in opposition. Do you think compromises, not scandals, will be the hallmark of this Seimas?

– I want to believe that both the position and the opposition will work for a good result. I am always in favor of compromises. We don’t have time for chunks, because the situation in the country is difficult. I hope we start 2021 by listening and working very hard. The end of this year was not easy: the government and leadership of the Seimas were formed, and the country’s budget had to be approved in a hurry. The wave of morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, and the associated tightening of the quarantine, also hit the ground. I understand people’s dissatisfaction with the restrictions, but there is no other way to protect society and healthcare facilities from disaster.

– What is the experience after the company joins the legislative barricades?

– When you work in a business, you must comply with the law and develop the business in accordance with the applicable legislation. And in the Seimas, to pass laws. That is why I say: a member of the Seimas must be a conductor between the needs of all groups in society and legislators. After all, the laws are not passed on to anyone but our citizens. That is why it is very important that the laws are not presented to the public as “green”, but that they are discussed and rational. For this reason, I invite residents, heads of municipalities and associations to submit proposals on legislative issues and their improvement. I really want to maintain a strong connection with all groups in society, we can do a lot if we work together.

– What do you want people to do? For 2021 to be …

– The most important thing is to overcome the pandemic. Lest we lose faith that all difficulties are only temporary. So that we can return to a normal rhythm of life. I wish you all health, inner strength, success at work, warmth at home. And bright hopes.
