In Latvia, during the New Year and Orthodox Christmas, the curfew will come into force: you will not be allowed to leave the house from 10 pm until 5 pm.

A.Dulkys, who received several questions from a journalist at a remote press conference on Wednesday after the government meeting, forgot one of them, about the curfew.

When asked to repeat it, the minister joked:

“As you can see, my subconscious doesn’t even want to accept the words ‘curfew’.

The Health Minister explained that he wanted to continue constantly. He said that a number of measures had been taken to control the spread of COVID-19.

“As we have consulted with data analysts, experts, we really want to wait at least until the Magi when those statistics start to tell us about exactly the impact that we have had from the current measures. Because so far the statistics, as you can see, both for some IT problems and for the human factor, and simply because of our behavior, as we were 2-3 weeks ago, now they are still like that, ”said A. Dulkys.

The numbers keep increasing

In Lithuania, new cases of COVID-19 and deaths from this infection continue to be registered.

Increasing numbers are recorded despite the fact that Lithuania has been in force for two weeks and reduced population mobility has been announced.

On Tuesday 3,934 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed. Another 75 people died, three of them under the age of 50..

Most of the deaths were registered in Vilnius and Kaunas counties.

The country’s hospitals are currently treating 2,525 patients with coronavirus infection.

210 of them – in resuscitation.

1,556 patients are treated with oxygen masks and 129 people are given artificial lung ventilation.

A total of 138,219 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Lithuania.
