The exciting English Premier League match between Liverpool’s Everton and Manchester City scheduled for Monday night has been indefinitely postponed.
Still on Friday, the Manchester club announced that jogging Gabriel Jesuss and Kyle’as Walkeris have tested positive for coronavirus and are therefore forced to isolate themselves. Two employees of the English club also contracted the infection, but their identities were not made public.
Additional tests have shown even more cases of coronavirus. According to unofficial sources, there were at least five new positive cases of coronavirus on Monday, but the identities of those infected remain a mystery.
Doctors urged the Premier League council, which met urgently, to postpone the match due to the threat of coronavirus infection. Just 4 hours before the scheduled start of the match, it was decided to postpone the match indefinitely.
Representatives of the Premier League noted that the health of players, staff and other employees will always be their priority. It will be announced in the near future when the postponed match will have to be played.
Everton, with 29 points, are among the leaders of the Premier League and could come off Leicester City (29 points). Man City (26 points), who had the opportunity to overtake Everton himself, is not far behind.
