Quadrupled turns
Impressive but expected results. This is how Tomas Banišauskas, director and founder of Bored Panda, assesses Facebook’s leadership position and billions of video views. According to the press release, he adds not in vain: the road to this point was strategic and purposeful, and the popularity tactics constantly developed have paid off.
“We have been ranked among the most viewed channels for some time, we have been in the top four. However, after realizing what content Facebook users were most interested in, we even quadrupled the number of videos we created and posted, from 2 to 8 per day. However, quantity is only part of success. We assess the current context and respond to the needs of the audience. People are spending more time at home than ever, high-quality DIY content has become especially relevant, so filling this niche has allowed us to rise to the top ”, says T. Banišauskas about the chosen strategy.
According to him, the spread of the globally successful DIY content started for the first time on the YouTube platform. In response to the growing demand for video content, Bored Panda has created its video division and established Bored Panda Studios. As the company began expanding Crafty Panda’s content to other social networks, the development team grew. At the beginning of this year, a team of 60 people participated in the development of the project, and today this number has increased to 250.
“We use authors from all over the world to create videos, but we can be happy that most of the content is created by Lithuanians. We are shooting videos in Vilnius, we have two studios here and we are finishing the third. Bored Panda Studios covers an area of more than 3,000 square meters. m., with up to 16 filming sites. As far as we know, we are the largest in the Baltic, ”says the director of Bored Panda.
The beginning of world fame – in the corridor
And although Lithuanian-created content breaks world records, when asked in which countries Crafty Panda is the most popular, T. Banišauskas laughs that it is definitely not in Lithuania. Residents of the US and India are more interested in DIY content, and the Lithuanian audience is quite small.

“Many compatriots do not know that Lithuania is the birthplace of Crafty Panda. When we founded Bored Panda, we initially created articles of an entertaining nature. Starting as a small project, then exceeding expectations: in 2017, we became the most read channel in Facebook, and now we repeat this achievement with video content ”, shares T. Banišauskas.
For 2017 The development of the creative team at Crafty Panda, founded in 2006, was joined by well-known director Tadas Vidmantas, and Rokas Jurkevičius took the lead.
“Initially, our team consisted of 3 people. The first videos were shot in the hallway, with minimal resources. Today, we have one hundred and fifty employees, 90 percent of whom work. It is made up of Lithuanians, we create content in professional studios and we can be proud of our global success, ”says the interlocutor.
Viewers are not drawn to the result, but to the process.
Crafty Panda is now available on the main social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Youtube. Adding up the total of its followers, the channel has almost 27 million. However, it should come as no surprise: Lithuanians are creating content that is extremely popular.
“The Crafty Panda channel content that we created consists of various videos of repair, carpentry, construction and restoration projects. However, it is important to mention that the viewer chooses this content not for the end result, but for the process: the engaging content , interesting, sometimes even charming, brings together an impressive audience ”, says T. Banišauskas.
However, according to the interlocutor, the goal for next year is to reach the top not by one, but by several channels. Therefore, new development teams are being formed and ambitious projects are being planned.
“Our achievement shows that we can compete with the most professional foreign developers and even surpass them. We are a country full of potential, distinguished by our diligence, creativity, ambitions, and I will remind those who do not dare to undertake the most successful businesses around the world have started in garages, basements or even corridors ”, concludes T. Banišauskas.
