Although more people in Kaunas have recovered from coronavirus disease than sick people, as many as 167 people have died from COVID-19 infection in the city since the start of the pandemic, Statistics Lithuania reported Tuesday. In Vilnius, 152 people died from coronavirus and another 89 from other diseases. Currently, 13,704 people are sick in the capital and 12,271 have recovered. The total number of confirmed cases of infection in Vilnius is 26,221.
A total of 14,377 cases of the disease have been confirmed in Kaunas. In this city, 7,578 inhabitants of Kaunas infected by coronavirus have already recovered and 6,579 are still sick. Last day 302 new cases of the disease were detected (their number increased by 12.98% during the week). Currently, 1,237.9 new cases of COVID-19 have been counted for every 100,000 inhabitants of the city of Kaunas in the last 14 days.
