“Exactly one year ago, when Freedom Party was created, one of the objectives was to create a political force that was as open, transparent and consistent as possible to defend and represent liberal ideas as possible. For this reason, we entrusted the classification of elections to the party list not only to all party members, but also to the people who support our activities. (…)

The ranking of the list will last until June 7, “says the official account of the party on Facebook.

The former VU rector will run for the Seimas

The party president herself is a candidate for the Seimas. The list also shows the surname of the former rector of the University of Vilnius Arūnas Žukauskas.

Wine expert Domininkas Velička, cannabis legalization activist Nerijus Vitkauskas, several members of the Vilnius City Council, human rights activist Tomas Vytautas Raskelevičius introduced himself as a “professional gay man”, Monika Ošmianskienė, fighting for the rights of the disabled, former member of the Seimas Donalda Meiželytė.

Expect to have a faction in the next Seimas

Party President A. Armonaitė emphasized that the Freedom Party list includes many people from public life, “from very young academics (for example, VGTU vice dean of faculties, one of the youngest in Lithuania) to people very experienced as A. Žukauskas.

“I would point out that there are many non-governmental organizations working with human rights, people with addictions and various minorities. This brings new qualities: education, human rights issues are very much reflected in our list,” said A. Armonaitė.

The party president responded to criticism that the list lacks famous faces.

“But the political field must be renewed someday, not by some superstars or representatives of the world of sport, but also by people from various fields who work with specific problems,” said A. Armonaitė.

The Freedom Party president hopes they will have a faction in the next Seimas.

Delfi recalls that the Freedom Party was established after 2018 Remigijus Šimašius and A. Armonaitė left the Liberal Movement in November after disagreements with the leadership.

2019 The party’s inaugural congress took place in June.
