SAM clarified when people would be considered potentially coronavirus

The Ministry of Health (SAM) recalls that, after evaluating the epidemiological situation in Lithuania, starting Monday, June 1, tests for coronavirus infection will be carried out in accordance with the new procedure. Preventive tests are expected to be carried out on the basis of the municipality’s epidemiological indicators or, in other words, on the basis of a risk assessment in a specific municipality. Patients experiencing symptoms, as well as hospitalized patients on a planned basis and after outbreaks of infection, for example when infected by a dorm resident, will be specifically investigated.

It is anticipated that all people who develop at least one symptom of an acute respiratory infection, i.e. temperature, cough, shortness of breath, and more. As before, all new to hospitals for planned treatment, i. and. operations, routine procedures, bedridden patients, as well as people who will be referred by specialists from the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) who work in pockets of infection, such as when a case is diagnosed in a dormitory-type home. In addition, tests will continue to be carried out to confirm that the person has already recovered, the so-called repeated tests.

This means that not all travelers arriving or returning from abroad without exception will have to undergo a test, as is currently the case. They will check to see if you experience typical symptoms of a coronavirus infection.
