“Today we received the sad news of the death of Laima Šabūnienė, a general practice nurse at Kaišiadorys Hospital, due to a Covid-19 infection.

This is a particularly painful loss, as this nurse worked on the antiviral front lines in the fever patient admissions department, performed all tasks assigned to her responsibly, and tried to help the sick.

I express my deepest condolences to the relatives of the deceased hero. On the occasion of the upcoming holidays, once again I want to urge everyone to respect the accepted restrictions, to greet each other remotely and to protect the health and life of themselves, their loved ones and all doctors. Today, the city’s fir tree is lit at 7 pm it will be extinguished in memory of this brave doctor, ”the mayor writes.
