“Every year, the selections receive a lot of public attention. However, knowing how difficult this period was for the music industry, we were looking forward to the applications of the participants. We are very glad that the artists and groups have not joined. escaped and, considering the whole situation, they were quite active in submitting applications. So we will be able to delight the audience with different and very high-quality performances during the selections, “says Audrius Giržadas, LRT’s chief producer.
In total, 23 artists and bands will appear in the New Years Try Again selections. The first national Eurovision program will air on LRT television on January 16. A total of four shows will be shown: two qualifying shows, a semi-final and a final.
This year’s winners, The Roop, will perform the song and compete for the right to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in the final show.

There has been a debate as to whether this year’s winners should be eligible for next year’s competition, but the European Broadcasting Union has indicated that the competition rules will not change, so songs selected this year cannot compete in Eurovision next year. However, judging by the work and responsible preparation of The Roop last year, the group immediately receives a place in the final of the selection.
The winner will be chosen jointly by the viewers and the commission, whose 5 members will change during each program. At the moment, the names of the members of the commission are not revealed by the organizers of the national team. How the commission voted will be announced at the end of the program, so that the commission’s evaluations do not affect the audience vote.
The national selection process is overseen by a working group of 9 specialists specially convened for this purpose: Lytis Deputy General Director Gytis Oganauskas, LRT Pop Music Editor Ramūnas Zilnys, LRT Head of TV. producer Audrius Giržadas, program manager of the radio department LRT Giedrius Masalskis, senior editor of LRT OPUS Darius Užkuraitis, manager of the communication and marketing department of LRT Rūta Putnikienė, project manager of marketing and public relations of LRT Justina Sokolovskė, director of television Povain Varvuolis
The task force members appreciate the originality of the work, the quality of the performance, and the potential to compete on the big Eurovision stage. The aim is also to ensure the diversity of musical styles on stage, to reveal the pulse of the world of modern Lithuanian music. The proposed song must comply with the rules of the International Eurovision Song Contest.
