At the press conference held after the meeting, the Interior Minister, Agnė Bilotaitė, stated that last weekend was a rehearsal before the next holidays, on the issue of restricting the movement of people.

The SSC will suggest to the government that only 2 people or members of a family farm could travel in a car to another municipality.

“The first proposal of the WEU: first, the question is the number of people in the cars. Today we formulate a proposal to the Government that there should be no more than 2 people in the car, or members of a family farm ”, A. Bilotaitė presented the proposal.

This was agreed by the General Police Commissioner Renatas Požėla. He explained that in public places, as well as in private spaces, there is a plan of how many people can be in them. But people in cars do not receive quarantine instructions.

“People everywhere will now have to meet the total requirement of two people and the requirement of a family farm,” he said.

Also last weekend, several passengers had to be disembarked from intercity buses that could not document their destination.

“What we did not like is our work with the carriers and their representatives. Because, unfortunately, several dozen passengers who were on shuttle buses were forced to disembark and did not reach the destination because they could not justify their destination”, R. Požėla spoke about the means used over the weekend.

He said that many are abusing the reason to go to another municipality for labor matters, which, according to a participant in the press conference, will be treated more strictly.

Police in the next phase of movement restrictions promise to use drones as well, promising to control not only residents entering municipalities but also those leaving.

There is also talk of using mobile applications.

Restrictions on movement restrictions may change

A. Bilotaitė stated that other changes are possible due to movement restriction.

“Another proposal is related to the problems that have arisen in the municipalities of the ring. Seeing the challenges of the people who live in the district municipalities and go to the city, we propose to adapt this procedure so that it no longer poses such challenges ”, said the Minister.

R. Požėla explained them.

“We see that people are massively connected, the inhabitants of the city with the district, they have real estate, the same gardens. We have seen a massive legal movement from the cities to the district. We see that many neighbors live in the area but work in the city, it is a legal movement, they need services. (…) We suggest running for government through WESC, perhaps the city and the district would be treated as a territorial unit, the same quarantine conditions would apply, it would be more logical, ”explained R. Požėla.

“These inspections would be carried out, the posts would be set up on the border of the Vilnius district and other municipalities,” explained R. Požėla the possible procedure.

He said there would be no more internal controls between the city and the Vilnius district.

The result of the quarantine is gradually visible

As the Interior Minister, President of the Government Emergency Situations Commission A. Bilotaitė, said after the meeting that the result of a stricter quarantine can already be seen, mobility has decreased.

“The first question about the epidemiological situation of the coronavirus. The Ministry of Health (SAM) has presented an assessment of the situation and possibly the possible results of the measures we are already using. As noted, the time is too short to draw conclusions, but it is obvious that the mobility of the population has decreased and this has had a negligible impact on the spread of the virus in Lithuania, ”A. Bilotait la said at the press conference.

“Today, based on the assessment and the report presented by SAM, it can be said that perhaps, although it is too early to draw any conclusions, observing mobility itself shows clear trends that it has declined,” said the politician.

She said we would see the real situation in 2-3 weeks.

“About the rate of increase in the number of diseases, but they are getting smaller and smaller. But we will see the results in 2-3 weeks and it is still difficult to assess. Especially since we have seen certain actions, irresponsible behavior of our people when there was massive visits to supermarkets can also give a result that will not be gratifying ”, said Interior Minister A. Bilotaitė at the press conference.

According to her, on the basis of these data, the SESC decided to request periodic information on the effectiveness of quarantine management measures, which would allow the commission to make new decisions “on the hardening or relaxation of the situation.

“The issue of the land route for people coming from the UK was also considered. The situation first discussed how it would be controlled and how it would be regulated. Currently, the current regime already requires that people coming from the UK take a test and, if not, that they be in self-isolation. “

According to her, certain control measures of the State Border Guard Service were also agreed so that border guards could ask new arrivals to present the results of the COVID-19.
