Lina, representative of the Senators’ Passage in Vilnius, noted that people want to order not only Christmas dinner, but also Christmas.
“Christmas dinner costs 90 euros per person. After tightening the quarantine rules, most of us receive orders to prepare dinner for a family: 2 people. In total, a dinner of this type costs 180 euros. Christmas costs 37.5 euros People usually ask for it for 4 people.
We have received several orders because people do not have much entertainment during quarantine, one of which is take-home food. It’s fun for residents to get food, put it on the table, and then eat, ”Lina said.
Sonata Milčiūtė-Tsichlia, owner and manager of MO Bistro, said that the 12-course Christmas dinner menu has already been created, which customers can purchase.
“The menu consists of a hot dish: fish, two types of salad, stuffed mushrooms, a bite of sandwiches, poppy milk, meatballs, blueberry cakes and other dishes. This dinner costs 69 euros for two people. Usually, people order 2 servings and some extra meals for the kids.
We get a lot of orders and will be accepting them later this week. Last year, we did not provide such service, we did not even work during Christmas. And this year, the quarantine has encouraged people to offer this service, ”said S. Milčiūtė-Tsichlia.
According to her, this year most people will welcome the holidays in a small circle, so it is not worth cooking a lot of dishes.
“Also, people now usually cook at home, so they want to be pampered during the holidays.
We also have a lot of regular customers who want to support us and therefore ask us for food. After all, ready meals can also be bought in large supermarkets. However, our customers believe that it is better to give small businesses the opportunity to earn money and buy food in restaurants or small food stores, ”said the restaurant manager.
Egidijus Šidlauskas, the owner of “Mobile Kitchen” and the chef, said that people usually order Christmas dinner for 2 or 3 people at home. Price per person – 45 euros.
“Last year we did not provide such a service, and this year’s quarantine led us to offer people a Christmas dinner.
I think ordering food at home saves people time and money without having to bother with the kitchen. Also, buying products for all the dishes that people want can be more expensive, ”said E. Šidlauskas.
Gabrielė, representative of “Marceliukės barn”, said that the Christmas dinner menu had already been prepared in advance, but several dishes were included, which the customer could choose from. The price per portion is 20 euros.
“The most popular dishes are empanadas with mushrooms, poppy milk, Christmas cakes, herring.
We have received many requests, we have to give them up. In fact, we didn’t even expect to have that many. We currently have over 300 portion orders. Immediately after the strict quarantine, orders for two people increased. We have the largest number of orders of this type, ”Gabriele said.
According to her, Christmas Eve dinner is usually ordered by busy people.
“In addition, we offer traditional dishes prepared by many grandmothers. And this year, many people will meet at Christmas separately. Many times young people don’t even know how to cook traditional dishes, that’s why they order them, ”said Gabrielė.
Ramunė Kulbytė-Radziukienė, the manager of Vilnius “Bernelių užeigos”, said that the menu of his restaurant Kūčių is made for 4 people. The price of this dinner is 69 euros.
However, if the customer wants to order dinner for 2 or 3 people, he creates the menu himself, eliminating existing dishes or reducing his portions.
However, we are no longer accepting new orders. We didn’t expect so many of them. Last year we also provided such a service and we see that we have received many more clients this year. Maybe last year people asked for more servings at the same time, and this year, due to the quarantine, they usually order dinner for 4 people, ”said the restaurant manager.
R. Kulbytė-Radziukienė states that people do not want to unnecessarily stroll through the shops, especially before the holidays, so they choose to buy the Christmas dinner, which we bring home.
