In Kaunas county, as announced by the National Center for Public Health on Saturday, 6 residents died last day, the same number, in Vilnius county. Across Lithuania, doctors failed to save 33 lives, 19 men and 14 women, from a threatening illness last day.
There were 3,219 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country on Friday, a decrease of one and a half percent from the same day last week. The largest outbreaks of the infection have been found in hospitals, care facilities, workplaces, and many of them in families. 686 were registered in Kaunas County, Vilnius County. – 980 new cases of infection, in other counties the number of infected people is more modest.
Significant changes, as shown by official statistics, are not yet seen in the list of municipalities according to the incidence (in the last 14 days) of the coronavirus infection. The three municipalities with the highest morbidity are in the lead: Alytus (2,497.2 cases – 100,000 inhabitants), Panevėžys (2,239 cases) and the Kaišiadorys district (2,167.6 cases – 100,000 inhabitants).
Kaunas is already ranked 20th on the list of 60 Lithuanian municipalities. In the second largest city in the country, 1,327 new cases of COVID-19 (per 100,000 inhabitants) were recorded in 14 days.
There are now 2,160 inhabitants in the Kaunas district, 3,879 confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded and 1,666 people have recovered from the dangerous disease. The Kaunas district municipality currently ranks 23rd on the list of cases of coronavirus infection (1280.8 cases – 100,000 inhabitants).
The situation in the Vilnius district is a little more complicated, there are 1,434.9 new cases of contagion per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. According to the data published on Saturday, this district is the seventeenth in the list of municipalities.
The city of Vilnius has once again been among the top ten in the list of municipalities: the municipality of the capital is now ranked 38. During the last 2 weeks, 1142.5 – 100 thousand new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the city largest in the country.
The municipalities of Neringa (453.3 cases), Rietavas (564 cases) and Biržai (589.8 cases) remain the municipalities with the lowest morbidity in Lithuania.
